Just some pics of a unit I've always admired and coveted

Gosh those are great pics; where exactly are the games taking place?

Interesting story – I wonder if the basic figures are from Essex, which makes 25/28mm Mamelukes? The pix are blocked by the work filter so I will have to look at them again tonight, although I can read the text.

wonder whatever happened to Doug Mason? You don't hear about him painting anything anymore and he used to be the bees' knees when it came to Gilderesque painting.

Doug dropped off the radar….depending who you talk to, you will get differing stories, when he disappeared he wasn't very popular with some folk.
All I know is the collections he left behind with different people, a lot of which is still incredible. He was that very rare type of painter, consistent, talented and prolific, not to mention fast. Add in his conversion skills and thats a fairly unusual group of skills all performed to the level he did. There are painters who can surpass him in some of those areas but its pretty much impossible to find one who does in all departments. (even more extra-ordinary given that he was colour-blind!)

I sooooo want some decent mamelukes to be made. Either FR or Perry plastic would be nice.
