I'm definately not strong enough…

Because of all the 10 and 6mm stuff I saw around, I must confess I could not resist giving a try to those scales.
I had tested few 10mm some times ago, and just make a test with 6mm.

Here are the results :

Should I add I have some GHQ and Baccus stuff on their way to my home ?
Definately, no, I'm not strong enough, but on the other hand, how one could resist to mini napoleonics, FoW or Blitzgrieg games ? With huge number of minis ? On a reduced board ? That would be insane…

Cheers,

Bruno.

Well, I am very impressed at someone who did the same period in both sizes to see how they turned out – great, in both cases, IMHO – I would certainly add some 6mm Baccus

Oh – and Bruno – the Little Prince is now just about six and has figured what are toys and what are do-not-touch minis, so there is definately hope!

Thanks guys,

Testing various scales is very funny.
I ever have several 15mm armies, and am currently building 28mm plastic boxes, but am not sure I will play them soon (required space), so they are first for collecting in a "mass way".

With 10 and 6mm it's different. I realize you can quickly set up some armies for an acceptable price that you can play on a reasonnable space. My only question was about how they looked and could be painted. Now I have the answer…

In that context, not making the test would have be an error on my side as I do not have huge gaming projects around (that could be different to most people).

Also, I was not knowing about that 6mm forum. I'll join it very soon so thanks for the link.

Bruno.

Small stuff is cool. Easy to paint as well. I have a small Texas war of independence I got from OG I started on. Fun…

That is lovely work Bruno- I wouldn't dare attempt 6mm!

One small thing, and not meaning to sound pedantic at all, you refer to:

"the French Chevaux Légers (10mm). There was only two regiments of them. The old glory pack let me build them, with respectively 4 and 5 squadrons each."

But aren't those units you've painted the heavy cavalry Carabiniers? The Chevaux Légers were the lancers created later in the Empire and there were 6 regiments….

Great, I have to admit your 10 mm impress me very much.

I dont think these 6mm are Adler. They appear to be H&R. Check my blog for what Adler look like.

Good work on testing them out. Although going 10mm AND 6mm may be a conflict for your time. Choose 1 over the other and then get into it. Obviously 6mm because I am here and lots of other COOL dudes are! he he

Good luck and keep us updated.

Hi all,

First, to Phillipaj, yes, I confused…
Those two regiments of french cavalry are carabiniers, not chevaux légers. Those Carabiniers were converted to heavy cavalry some time before the Russian campain, and were quite totally destroyed during the following retreat. Sorry for that confusion.

Second, yes I will invest some time in 6mm first. My on going 28mm armies are more for mass collecting that for playing (need far more space than I can have). The cool thing is that switching from one project to another keeps you motivated.

Once I will have two decent corps in 6mm, I will go on for 10mm. I suppose that at the time both will be done, my 28 mm stuff should be quite done as well… it will be time to find something else…

OK, I know, I am an unrecoverable optimist…
;-)

Bruno.
