There are some fine clubs on the skirts of Sydney town in the way of the gents at EMIRS and the Southern Battlegamers to name just a couple, but I was wondering if there's interest in establishing a wargames club in town? Myself and another sounded out a couple of potential venues in the city, but things fizzled out. Any thoughts? |

A great idea, but where would you be able to do it? Having to spend $120 USD per day in parking fees may preclude some potential club members from joining in

Yep – while i have parking – it probably would be an issue for some others though |

Yes, parking is a big issue. Thankfully, licenced clubs like the NSW Bowlers Club and others offer subsidised parking. I think the rate is around the $10 USD mark for a fair few hours. I think the key would be to make use of some rooms at an RSL or other venue that can provide subsidised parking for members. |

A few of us would be interested. The old spartan club used to meet somewhere in near central station. There may be some smaller licensed clubs there that would not mind the extra patrons once or twice a month. |

what about Cumberland at Annandale? Also what about the PCYC clubs, Glebe for example, RSLs bowlo's always looking for members and sometimes will not even chare for the use of the facilities. cheers matt |

Cumberland is gone, and dealing with PCYC can be difficult. The CBD isn't the best of choices these days, especially for mid week gaming. I'm mulling over the idea of setting up an EMIRS branch in the Inner West with some other non eastern suburbs EMIRS chaps, the issue is that no one wants to go to all the effort to build a working relationship with a venue for a club that will last three or four meets. Looking at using the Summer Hill community centre as a starting point. Any interested parties drop me a PM. |

Near Central Station would be the ideal. Easy for anyone to get to by train , or call into on the way home if you work in town. |

Yep, that would be my preference. Central is pretty convenient. Next week I'll have a look around and put some observations up in this thread and see how we go. If anyone else wants to suss out some potential venues before a formal approach, then that would be great! |

Does anyone know if the club that used to meet at the old Institute of Technology in Sydney (that became Sydney TAFE, called what now?), that moved to Burwood is still running? I think Phil Macgregor started it up. What happened to them? I believe insurance/liability issues with the TAFE forced them out of that venue. Now there was a handy location
