Help! I'm looking for some uniform information for the above regiment during the 1903 Punitive Expidition into Nepal. The only thing I've found so far seems to be an unlikely combination of scarlet smock and red turban. Was this a dress type of uniform? Would there be a khaki campaign smock? Turban? I guess this is a fairly obscure request but the reason I'm asking is that my brother-in-law has a set of medals won by a Naik from the Regiment in that campaign and I intend to paint up a 28mm Foundry Sikh for him, to complement the medal set. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. |

In 1903 they would be in all khaki although there might be some red trim on the turban. |

By 1903 pretty much all the colour had vanished from the field uniforms of the Raj – khaki uniforms, brown leather equipment were the rule Have a look link |

The haversacks and straps might be an off white but other belting and pouches would be brown. |
