I have posted a few pictures on my blog of the start of my Russian army for 1805-07 using the old Dave Alsop designed Old Glory Russians, augmented by command figures, artillery and cavalry from Elite Miniatures.

The Alsop Russians are one piece castings, so they are easier to work with than the related French were.

I use a black primer covered with a coat of black acrylic paint. Then I use Reaper Pro Paints "Elven Green" as the base color and highlight with a lighter shade (I will have to look up the color when I get home). But I like the Elven Green for Russian tunics as it seems to have the right amount of darkness to it.

Bill Protz and I are working on a Napoleonic version of his BAR rules. The mechanics will be the same, but we will add some things (particularly as they relate to skirmishers, horse artillery and cavalry vs infantry)to reflect the changes in Napoleonic warfare vs SYW linear warfare. It is a work in progress with much playtesting yet to be done.

Part of the reason why I've been on more of a Napoleonic painting kick rather than a SYW-related binge is that I'm trying to build up a minimum core mass of troops needed to start play testing the rules.

This is an awesome looking project Fritz. These Alsop figures are superb – best 1805 Russians out there. It's a real shame that they are unavailable. The Elite Horse arty look great too.
