The Armies in Plastic French indian War 54mm figures are a great addition to the period and genre. I ordered the rogers rangers set, woodland indians sets 1 and 2, and the french infantry set. These are adapted from the frontline figures of the same period and have nice details and good animation. Will likely pick up a bit more of each. |

Armies in Plastic has a website and some pretty good deals. 4 boxes for the price of 3 and free shipping with $45 USD order (3 boxes) |

I picked them up from armies in plastic directly. they have buy 3 boxes get the 4th free and free shipping on $45 USD or more. each box is $15 USD Just like wolfshanza said. I just compared them to my barszo french firing line figs and the AIP are a bit larger. However, I will keep the figs seperate by maker as seperate regiments. The AIP standing and firing figs have bayonets fixed whilst the Barzso firing line figs do not have bayonets attached to rifle. I group my figs 6 men to a company and have officers command groups of 3 or more companies. (this was because I was using a rules set by andy watkins and with barszo figs about 20 to 25 dollars per 13 figs, it was cost effective. I can expand my french forces now because the AIP figures allow me to add figs at a reduced amount per fig. I will also pick up a few more indians. the indian sculpts are very nice. These come a very close, I mean very close second to the Barszo woodland indians (Barszo's are much crisper in detail although slightly less heftier than the AIP. overall as stated before, the AIP will make nice additons to my FIW collection. |

I just started painting one of each pose of the two new Indian sets yesterday. So far so good. A flesh wash already brings out nice detail. It also helps that you can print out pics of Jenkins' own painting and emulate the look. These Indians are ideal next to our own AWI and 1812 troops. We also carry them. |

I am really impressed by them. I am hoping to dig out my CTS Indians and give them the comparison test. Cursorily, they look like they would match up well. How about the rangers? |

craigspiel, I just compared my CTS woodland indians to the AIP and find that the AIP are heftier in width (not much but noticable side by side) but similar in hieght. If I get a chance this weekend, i will take some comparison shots of my various brands side by side and post a pdf of them. (That is IF I can, some rather pressing work projects going on and may not get to it till next week sometime) The rangers again have the same heft issue. overall, AIP are a bit heftier than the others but I don't mind. they are a nice and affordable option for the period. Hope they make some highlanders in tams, and in bearskin. Also would be nice if they made some grenediers in mitre and bearskin as well as some british Hat companies. I would love a special collection box by AIP of mounted officers, fifers, bagpipers, and drummers and color bearers for hat and grens and highlanders (both brit and french) Ah--one can dream

How do these compare with the Jenkins FIW figures?
.a bit smaller? |

I also like Andy Watkin's rules. I am also looking at This Very ground by Iron Ivan which i like. I have the CTS Indians. Probably around 45+. They painted up pretty well. The AIP Indians are on the BUY list. I need the Rangers and French. What are folks using for British line for the F&IW? Thanks, John |

John, I use Barzo FIW british firing line and black watch firing line. I got them a couple years ago when they were only around 19 bucks for a bag of 13 (and still in stock). I am also using some accurate AWI brit figures for colonial regiments. |
John Leahy | 18 Nov 2009 7:14 p.m. PST |
Barzo makes some really nice stuff. Too bad it goes out of stock. I wanted to pick some up before now. I am doing AWI in 54mm but really wanted to do F&IW. Maybe AIP will release some Brits soon? Thanks, John |
