Nice work Rustman! Those treehouses are perfect for Kashyyyk! The steam walker-suits are from Armorcast. |

Hey, there's our OGRE table! Cool pix
thanks for posting. It was probably the most enjoyable game Con I've attended
certainly the only one with Guinness on tap. Close to home too. |

The Ogre game looked very awesome
it had been awhile since I had seen so many vehicles on a table! Clonecommander |

Your Clone War game looked very cool. It's nice to see that there was some Historical crap there too. |

"some Historical crap with factories" Oh so nice of you to mention it. |
| clonecommander | 27 Oct 2009 2:15 p.m. PST |
I was kidding about "historical crap" because I made mention earlier this year about how slow the Historical games at Little Wars moved, and I'm not a historical player, so of course to me it looks like nothing happened
John Leahy asked me not to lump all historical games togehter, so for fun I threw a "historical crap" line in there to set it up again. So I'll fix it
Some Flames of War crap with factories. Clonecommander |

I agree the historicals were quite sparse – likely my last Rock-con. Bugs and space stuff everywhere like so much chaff. KAM |

Nice looking tables, especially like the Burger King Toy conversions. |

"I agree the historicals were quite sparse – likely my last Rock-con. Bugs and space stuff everywhere like so much chaff." Perhaps an HMGS sponsored event like Little Wars would be more your thing. We stopped attending that venue because of the general attitude towards all things non-historic, which is fine – it is, after all a historical miniatures event. Rock-Con has a nice mix, not limited to space stuff and bugs
there were card games to our left, a huge game involving boats, buildings, die cast cars and trucks to our right, an Indy race track game in front of us, and live action sword fights behind us. The Historical games may have been "sparse", but it's due to the eclecticism of the event. And the staff were friendly and helpful, as usual. |

I thought there were a bunch of Historics
mostly games with tanks, but historical anyway
|
| draknoir2 | 28 Oct 2009 10:56 a.m. PST |
There were some
I remember the tank game. GW had a huge table – Warhammer, I think. |

I remember a few years ago someone was complaining about the lack of 20mm games at another Con. My answer to him, and anyone else, lamenting the lack of a certain type of game was, "run your own game." My own question is, "If someone is unwilling to run a certain type of game, why should anyone else run it?" |

Rock-Con has always been an all genres convention. This year's Historical games included French and Indian War games, American War of Independence games, American Civil War games, English Civil War games, Spanish Civil War games, and WW2 games covering naval, air and ground combat. If you include the Flames of War and Warhammer Ancient Battles tournaments, there was plenty to interest the Historical Only gamer. |

"I agree the historicals were quite sparse – likely my last Rock-con. Bugs and space stuff everywhere like so much chaff." – Captain Canada I think you are being disingenuous to the Judges who were running at Rock-Con this year. Each GM spent his or her own money to purchase and/or paint figures, make terrain, write up player sheets, copy rules, pack everything up, bring it the convention, run their game, and then packed it up to take things back home
.. all for a day or weekend pass to Rock-Con. Since 2004, I've organized and run the game floor. I schedule an over 125 different games during the three days. As long as Rock-Con has the space, I never turn a game away. I make a place for historical, science-fiction, fantasy, RPG, and board games because I believe each is an essential part of the hobby. I cannot force those who volunteer their time and talents to run a game they are not passionate about. ~Antina Richards-Pennock Rock-Con Games XO, 2004-2009 Rock-Con Convention Director, 2009 |

This is our second time running a table at Rock Con [last time was the year the power went out], and we returned because it was well run, the people were nice, and we were made to feel welcome [despite our game being non-historical]. We plan on returning next year. |

Rock Con is always a good time. And looking at the online list of scheduled games, over 1/3 were historicals. Back to the topic at hand, thanks for Rock-con pictures. |
