Several years ago I bought a bunch of tiny rare earth magnets from a hobby supplier. I base my minis on washers and it's handy for me to use the magnets on a custom-made carrying tray. I need more of these magnets and I can't remeber who I ordered them from. They're your typical rare earth magnets (about 10mm diameter), with the separate metal "cup" that supposedly augments the strength of the magnet.

Any clues or recommendations?

Was it K&J Magnetics?

If not originally, they might have what you're looking for. I've used them and was happy with the turnaround and price.

buy them on e-bay from the Hong Kong suppliers.

Don't buy them from Canada -- they just import from Hong Kong and mark up the product to turn a profit.

This is a fabulous deal:

way better than the one I got.

I second K&J Magnetics. Very good company to work with. It might not be a problem, but I don't think they have a minimum order.

K & J for me, as well! And they do not have a minimum order-- I bought very small amounts several times and had no problems.

Amazingmagnets.com. I used them and love their service. Great products. Definitely comparison shop there. Based in California.

I'm another K&J fan. I had a smaller order and got it quickly.

Thanks,

John

Add my vote for K&J. Happy customer for 2+ years.

I'm an Amazingmagnets.com customer. If you buy in bulk the per unit price drops and the service has always been great. :-)

I got some from gaussboys. Arrived on time, very cheap. A few have developed slight chipping of the nickel coat on the edges since then. Their magnets are measured in metric. I've used them for miniatures and they hold very strongly-- well enough to hold a miniature together without being problematic to remove.

K&J gets regular kudos on the boards and claims their triple-coat avoids chipping but I have no personal experience with them. They use english units (excel can convert them if this is a real problem of course).
