Come on you know you got one. What category does it fall into:

Is it a conspiracy theory thread?

A straight forward BCC move thread?

The hosts Stinks thread?

General pot stirrer?

Stealth pot stirrer? – the seemingly innocent question or the have you heard this rumor intro…..?

The financial ruin threads?

Maybe one that starts out as one of the above, but then mutates into a:
"who is qualified to comment on Historicon"
"what games are considered acceptable (usually historical enough, but could be generally quality related) to have at Historicon",

and then just generally dissolves into insults and trashing of fellow gamers?

Or one of my personal favorites: the "let's not talk about it anymore threads" grin

Now I don't believe that for one minute!

My Historicon would be better than your Historicon. I'm just that brilliant.

I love the "move it to the west coast" thread…

My favourite Historicon thread was the one when kyoteblue tried to explain why he couldn't go to Baltimore for the weekend without spending some ridiculously large sum of money ($6,000?).

BuddyBoy226 Oct 2009 10:26 a.m. PST

I have 3 favorites:
1. KyoteBlue's Historicon to Vegas Baby.
2. Pat Condray and the "what happened 12 years ago in HMGS East is still valid" thread(s).
3. Any HMGS East thread where James comes on and clarifies everything then goes underground again.

I am fond of the variation on the 12 years thread, and that is the fantasy guys blocked the historicals 30 years ago, so we need to block the fantasy guys now thread.

My poll line: I avoid Historicon threads like the proverbial Bubonic Plague.

Except, of course, for this one. wink

Okay, I did look up why Mal Wright was sent to the hoosegow. That was an eye-opener, and confirmed my general rule above. huh?

"I am fond of the variation on the 12 years thread, and that is the fantasy guys blocked the historicals 30 years ago, so we need to block the fantasy guys now thread."

Yeah, that'll show them… er, ahem… us.

GW has bought HMGS and Historicon.

aecurtis Fezian26 Oct 2009 12:34 p.m. PST

Bought as in the corporate acquisition sense, or bought as in the 1930s Chicago politician sense?

Sysiphus26 Oct 2009 12:55 p.m. PST

I'm partial to a "Hatfields vs McCoys" thread myself.

firstvarty197926 Oct 2009 12:56 p.m. PST

The first would bother me, and would probably be against the law, and the second (which would be more correct if the "1930s" part were erased) wouldn't surprise me.

What do you mean 1930s? Haven't you been reading the news lately …. about miniature gaming. Bill I wasn't talking about politics. Really Bill I was talking about miniature gaming. Honest. Ah shoot. I feel doom descending.

I put that in there for a reason, guys: so you would not be tempted. But apparently Satan was just too strong…

Any thread with the phrase, "sensing session."

The Tin Dictator26 Oct 2009 4:35 p.m. PST

You know,
I have the solution to all the Historicon controversy.
But I'm not telling.
This is too fun to watch.

Oh, by the way, did anyone hear that Historicon might be moving? I hear its a toss-up between Baltimore and Vegas!! And they might change the date too.
And raise the admittance fee.
And (gasp) require deodorant on gamers who weigh more than 350 lbs. (e-mail me separately for the Weight-watchers contact info)…..Yes YOU!

how about "what happened to James Mattes thread?"

he hasn't been on to defend the "Move Historicon Now" movement from assaults from the "hell No I won't go if it ain't in Lancaster crowd"

so what happened?

Sysiphus26 Oct 2009 6:11 p.m. PST

I heard a rumor that in BCC all union employed cargo loaders will require non-historical gamers to submit to a cavity search, and that the wearing of white sox will be prohibited.

Also, all six sided dice with numbers rather than pips will be not allowed at future events because they smack too much of roleplaying.

Chuck

(c'mon, lets get over it and paint some ministures and play some games)

The Tin Dictator27 Oct 2009 7:29 a.m. PST

Yea, I heard that too.
Must be true.

BuddyBoy227 Oct 2009 12:20 p.m. PST

"…lets get over it and paint some ministures."

That's my new favorite topic,,,,Painting 'ministures' demo at Historicon in Baltimore,,,,a cross between GW fantasy and Historical figures.

Definitely kyotoblue's $6-8000 reasons for not being able to attend H-con. I think if most of us had an extra ONE THOUSAND to spend, even including hotels, we would consider that to be a pretty healthy expenditure for a gaming convention! And he never did give us a list of what he would spend all that money on. My guess is that's at least a 100 message thread!

Baltimore Math:

The "Move it 300 miles south to Hampton VA, cuz that's so much more convenient" thread seems to be picking up steam.
