Those are very nicely done! For what it's worth, although many folks like Army Painter, I've chosen to use the MinWax stain, since I discovered they now have a substantial range of acrylic woodstains. That means thinning and clean-up with water, no fumes and faster drying.

But those buildings you've done are very nice looking. I've always liked Hovels' products.

Respects,

Very nice. I use Minwax on my building as well, as much to protect them as to rough up the coloration.

That painting is great! I have 2 of the 3 myself. Your are almost as good as mine…OK…better. I am going to have to take a second look at mine for improvement.

I just use the same hobby acrylics that I use for my soldiers.

Thanks for showing the photos. I like seeing what other people are doing with Hovels and the colors they choose.
I plan on getting a couple or 3 more buildings soon, and I was wondering what colors to use to make them different from the ones I have.

I meant I have 3 of the 4. Sorry. I can count, it just takes a while to get started on a Sunday morning.

Let me ask you guys if you think 25AC Wild West General store (from Hovels too) would work as a building in Eastern
USA?

or do you think it looks too 'western'?

TKindred25 Oct 2009 6:09 a.m. PST

Depending upon where you were planning to fight, almost all of the Wild West buildings could be used.

It seems Wargames no longer carries Hovels? Do they have a US distributor?

raylev326 Oct 2009 2:35 a.m. PST

The 25AC Wild West General store would work out fine for ACW in the west or even smaller villages/towns in the east.

I have gotten my Hovels from The Michigan Toy Soldier Company.

Nice paintwork. I've always thought Hovels great value for money and a good paint job really proves it.
