Hey all! So I am planning to play a few games at Fall In this year
in particular, looking for a Nappy game and an AWI game. However, I am really hoping for a good looking game
I have to admit, I am a big terrain/figure junkie, and if that stuff doesn't look super nice, I am a bit let down. Anyone know of any games where they know that the figures and terrain will be top notch, and they wouldn't mind a newbie? Thanks! |

Event S149 Talavera, July 28 1809 Start: 10 AM End: 5 PM, No. Players: 12, Scale: 28mm, Period: Napoleonic, Rules: Carnage&GloryII Computer Moderated Rules, GM: Nigel Marsh / Tom Garnett / Lyle Bickley, Sponsor: It is the afternoon of July 28, the Anglo-Spanish army commanded by Sir Arthur Wellesley has already beaten off two probing French attacks. The scene is now set for the climax of the battle, as two French Corps prepare to cross the Portina brook and engage with the exposed British and Spanish line. Historically Wellesley was victorious, which means the French have everything to fight for. Well known group and rules with very nice terrain. VR James Mattes |

Second the Waxtel games as well, I was going to post those next. I am not sure however as they are listed as Novice games and might not be to your cup of tea. VR James Mattes |

Hey guys, Thanks for the suggestion so far
as a newbie to playing, do you think they will get annoyed at having a new guy? Or are people generally pretty accepting of a new person as long as they are enthusiastic and able to pick up rules quickly? Thanks again for the advice so far

And for AWI you cant beat Dave Bonk's game: Event F031 Johns Island, Charleston, February, 1780 Start: 6 PM End: 10 PM, No. Players: 6, Scale: 40mm, Period: AWI, Rules: Carnage&GloryII Computer Moderated Rules, GM: Dave Bonk, Sponsor: Triangle Simulation Society In February, 1780 British forces landed on Johns Island and began their march towards Charleston. The South Carolina militia failed to turn out as expected and General Lincoln did nothing to challenge the British advance. Could the Americans have defeated the British on Johns Island? Please pardon the interruption
James, now that you are back in the action, can you please check to find out why our Demo game does not appear on the online PEL? Andy has confirmed it is Event #315 Lord Ashram, allow me to invite you to try this demo 15mm ACW game at the BTC vendor booth, featuring terrain by Battlefield Terrain Concepts and figures by Gettysburg Soldiers, play testing new easy to learn rules, and will include Hidden Movement! Regards, Larry GettysburgSoldiers.com |

I signed up for a pair of games already
but depending on when the demo 15mm ACW game is I'd be happy to come by
I am coming down with a friend of mine who, I believe, has made it his lifes mission to put all of the children of the BTC owners through college, so I'll certainly be there a bunch!:) |

James, Only one of my two games is listed in the PEL also. It is the first one I submitted that is missing. Do I need to resend you the info on the game? |

Another vote for the Waxtel Shako games and the Carnage and Glory Talavera and AWI games. All the events are hosted by great GMs with plenty of experience with their respective rule systems. And the figures and terrain look great. Anyone interested in the C&G games should google Carnage and Glory, which will take you to the home page of the rules. You can pick up plenty of details on the system there whether you are a veteran or novice player. You can also join the Carnage and Glory Yahoo group. Lord Ashram, if you want to contact David Bonk before the convention, he'll see anything you post on the C&G Yahoo group and can respond to you there. Enjoy the games. |

There will be many good games at Fall-In. However, I agree with the above person who recommended Dave Bonk's A.W.I. game. Anything Dave does is always done right! TomS. |

I'll add a plug or two for Paul Olszanski's two Waterloo games, one Friday evening, one Saturday. They use my Age of Eagles (Napoleonic Fire & Fury) rules, so they are pretty simple by definition. Also, if you'd like to try AWI x 20, my Malplaquet 1709 game is Saturday morning using my soon to be published Age of Honor rules (Lace Wars Fire & Fury). Again, based on F&F so simple and newcomers welcome. Its a big battle so I'm sure we can find a command or two to spare. Now I can't speak for Paul, but my setups have won a couple of awards, but given Dave Bonk and crew kinda taught me what I know . . . Regards, Bill Gray ageofeagles.com |

Bill is correct I only looked at the 25mm games and forgot there are many quality 15mm games as well. VR James Mattes |

Ashram, Feel free to come by the All the King's Men booth for one of our AWI demo games. It's sexy 54mm figures and terrain. A game can take as little as an hour. Games are run all weekend. They seem to have fallen out of the PEL, but Andy assures me they'll be back in the paper copy at the show. |

Hey all! I am so glad to see all of these game suggestions and invites
among SOOO much going on, it can be hard to know where to turn! Can I ask, about Carnage and Glory

link The Waterloo games sound wonderful
I am not sure I'll be able to play, but I will CERTAINLY be hanging around to watch at LEAST:D Toy soldiers toy soldiers toy soldiers

You can do much worse at a convention than playing in events hosted by Bill Gray, David Bonk and Nigel Marsh. The three of them could put on their own convention and it would be a hit. Not that I should give them any ideas
. I'm also told that All The Kings Men has been very popular at recent conventions. Enjoy the games. |

Only if we can have it at the BCC with extensive GW $$$ support. Just joking (ducks for cover :). Regards, Bill Gray ageofeagles.com |

Waxtel beats rookies with a horse whip. But I won the game for my side and I whinny a lot. |

I recommend checking out the demo game for "All the Kings Men", that will be in the dealer hall. I know that I'll be stopping by. I also want to recommend the Shako II game run by Dave Waxtel and crew. Three of us played it at Cold Wars, had a great time with a well run demo game. We have played it locally with our own copies of the rules and had good games. Good Gaming; Joep |
