Hi,

I need some african/swahili allies for the Portuguese in east africa (1700īs).
For spearmen and archers I will use Darkest africa figures from Foundry.
I also want some musketmen, that donīt look too "wild", but I am not sure if I could use the musket armed Askaris from Foundry (Box DA12/4, DA2/4 and DA2/5).
Will they fit?

Those Askari might be ok for 1700's. Also good are Zanzabari. Better to use the Ruga Ruga or Baluchi

These are more coastal types that the Ports would have engaged. Firearms were not in much use inland at that time, so "natives" would have to be given guns and trained in their use. The coastal people were more experienced.

The Portuguese also used African sword and buckler men too so the same sets have these.

Thanks to you and your dog,

as the Baluchis are going to be used as opponents of the Portuguese, I will take some Zanzibaris and some Ruga Ruga.
