Comments or corrections?

Does anyone have comments on these re painting experience, compatibility with other ranges etc.?

Also, the first cavalry were promised for May – was that 2010 or what?

I have some and they are quite good. They are about the same size as the old Dixons (just a tad taller). They are quite thin so they might not fit very well with figures such as Front Rank and Reiver Castings.

Other than the limited number of poses, I like them a lot.

Here are some comparison shots :

Thanks for the Pics but which are Copplestone and which are others? I have lots of Foundry and Dixons and wondered if the CM would fit.

From looking at Mark's site, the pikeman, officer, drummer and firing man with apostles are his.

Many thanks Patrick, these side-by-side pictures say it all – and your officer's glare is positively frightening!

Now, can I wait for the cavalry or will I succumb even before they appear?

GoodBye23 Oct 2009 2:15 p.m. PST

Succumb, they are lovely in person and to date Mark has never left a range in the lurch! It'll prove we care about the range.

They do look very nice – rats! Another army to paint!

Well, I regret to say that I'm still waiting for the cavalry, crossbowmen and other projected figures for the Foundry Conquistador range.

Sorry, I had to say that, it's that I'm still traumatised!

You might as well collect them now. That way the infantry will be done by the time the cavalry arrives. That's what I've done.

- Great minds think alike obviously: the first two battalions were ordered this week…

Musketier04 Dec 2009 2:42 a.m. PST

… and have now arrived. The figures are even better in 3D than in the website pictures, and the pikes with proper leaf-shaped points look great. My only (minor) gripe would be that the officers lack tasselled spontoons – shortened pikes don't quite look the part. However I'll definitely be back for more when I've painted these.

Condottiere05 Dec 2009 10:31 a.m. PST

Great to hear. I've been eyeing these for a project starting after I've finished all my other projects, so I expect to order them sometime in the 2020s!

They do look great in the pictures. It is good to know that the pictures don't do them justice.

Musketier06 Dec 2009 6:48 a.m. PST

I was working to a similar timeline originally, but now I'm thinking of adopting a steady pace of orders to encourage expansion of the range. Otherwise by 2020 it may well have folded, which would be a crying shame!

Progress on this range does seem rather slow, lol. Maybe a lack of demand? Wish there was some cavalry for it, Simon

celticfury21 May 2010 10:55 a.m. PST

slim, elegant, dangerous, and not difficult to paint :D
plus, i like the (pointed!) pike staves they sell – easy to cut down and use as spears or flagstaffs.

I'm not sure we can say that any more. It's coming up to a year now since the cavalry was promised. Myself and some friends jumped on these figures and were excited by the prospect of gaming this period. We bought infantry and "Beneath the Lily Banner" rules. We were looking forward to the cavalry. To date the cavalry has not shown up. Enquires to Copplestone have gone unanswered. One by one we have become disenchanted and moved on to other projects.

At this point I'm wondering if there is something wrong with Mark. Other than a few vehicles I've not seen much produced by his company.

Simon Boulton22 May 2010 3:00 a.m. PST

Will be a shame if the range doesn't get finished, I'm sure the cavalry, generals and artillery would be superb

Musketier25 May 2010 4:02 a.m. PST

I could live without cavalry at a pinch, but I'll need artillery and sappers if my siege project is to take off.

Otherwise there's going to be two battalions of pike and shot on a Bring&Buy ere long…

Simon Boulton26 Oct 2010 9:19 a.m. PST

Cavalry are up on the website now, no command figures yet though. Should be some generals out soon too

mashrewba01 Nov 2010 3:15 p.m. PST

Could you use these for Monmouth's rebellion and the Battle of the Boyne or are the coats not long enough etc?
I've got Dixon and Foundry stuff for this period.
Hell I'll probably just get them anyway.

pete1709 Dec 2010 1:14 p.m. PST

I'm using them for Jacobite Irish as they just look right, cheers Pete
