New photos of 3D Waterloo boards are online. These should show scaling better. There is a ruler on one photo that gives a scaling reference. There are several photos with building placed showing where major features will be. Actual buildings will be different.

By this weekend, the roads, rivers and woods should be complete and new pictures posted.

QUESTIONS -
Where to have boggy/muddy ground? I was thinking of making the low contoured areas a more muddy appearance, and also having some movement effect in those areas. Thoughts?

Source for Leader ratings? I am using Carnage & Glory II with Brigade level and higher leaders rated for Command and Tactical. Anyone have suggestions for a source I could use for ratings on a scale of 1 to 10?

Good stuff!

I see you used artist board -did you get any warpage when you used (apparently) white glue?

My club underwent quite similar thing when building quite a few terrain for Russo-Swedish War of 1808 (and the previous Albuera terrain). Although when we applied filler we tried to hide the elevation contours more throughly. Both ways have their merits.

We've made some innovations after we wrote the above guides, the biggest of those being the switch from white glue to acrylic filler (it doesn't shrink when it dries so you get MUCh less warpage than with white glue).

Looks good – I've wondered myself about making a contour style map / board.

Just saw a repeat of the MHC show about the analysis of Waterloo. They did soil tests on the high and low ground. High ground had lots of sand and would drain quickly. The low ground, such as the valley/swale between Belle Alliance and Waterloo was full of clay and very gooey the day they were doing the samples. Interesting considering it hadn't rained in several days. The expert theorized it would have been quite bad on June 18.
Sounds like a wet look and movement penalty would be very appropriate.
