Keraunos – your games look fantastic! What's the basing? 1" squares, 3 per unit? |

30mm squares, 3 per unit we double ranked 4 10mm figures for the infantry (and I pop a drummer on the back outside corner of the two outside bases) the hard part is getting two flags for each regiment – have to ask nicely at Pendraken for those to be made up. |

Does it include army lists? |

KotB does not include army lists. There is a point system and so it is quite possible to build an elite early Prussian army or a dreadful late war one; and all ranges in between. But it won't give you prescriptive lists. Because the scale is very similar, you can happily use the many OOB's that have been produced for Volley and Bayonet 18th C battles very easily for KotB. And yes, you can play historical battles on a club evening of four hours or less. Nobody has yet mentioned the cavalry melee system which is excellent: you get flowing melees with important player decisions taken at each stage: basically each player alternates in putting units into an existing melee until one side breaks or there are no more available units. But you really have to consider the implications of gambling to get a result as against holding on to reserves. And finally, there is now a Yahoo group – just started in the last month or two I believe: link |

It's great to see these rules succeeding. Our group played them a couple of years back and liked them, but then we got kinda sidetracked
My favourite is the approach to musketry: you don't roll to fire, the opponent rolls to react – the logic being, this is a battlefield, lead's going to fly, question is, how do the boys take it? Apologies to Ian, who was very helpful with explaining things for our trial games. Any misinterpretation of his intention is my own fault. |
