A short version will be made as a news announcement later, but I thought it appropriate to post here for information
Great War Gaming Day on the 6 December 2009
Presented by Scarab Miniatures Ltd and Gripping Beast
Held at Gripping Beast, Evesham
Cost £10.00 GBP for lunch and access to facilities payable to Gripping Beast
Register with Scarab Miniatures or Gripping Beast advising them what army you are bringing and which section of gaming you want to take part in.
Non players are welcome to visit during the day.

The Day
We have three activities planned and you can choose which ever suits your particular gaming style.
• A Great War Campaign using Warhammer Historical Great War rules and latest online errata
• Through the Mud and the Blood using the TooFatLardies rules
• The War to end all Wars for those who want to take part but don't have an army ready yet

Great War campaign
This campaign follows on from the successful event organised by Soapy at Gripping Beast in June.
It is 1918 and the Allied offensives have been stopped due to a successful series of counter attacks by the Central Powers. Both sides have paused but with the arrival of fresh forces the carnage is about to commence again.

You will need the following.
A battalion selected from the Great War rulebook. This should be between 1000 and 1600 points.
When you register you need to let us know what Battalion you are using and how large it will be. Although the campaign is themed for the Late War, you can of course use your Early Battalion if you prefer. Some loan units may be available.
In addition to you may spend some of your points on the following support. These use support slots as normal. You will need to bring additional models to represent them. This support will not be available as part of the Mission special rules, you either buy them or go without!

Divisional Support
0-1 Off table artillery battery 100 points
Uses the rules on page 86. The battery fires two large blast templates as a multiple barrage. This is a chance to bring unused "Big Bertha", howitzers or any spare guns and mortars you might have on a nicely modelled base. You will need one gun and six figures to represent the crew.

0-1 Aircraft 50 points
Uses the rules on page 86 and online errata. Can also be used to counter off table artillery by simply applying the same process there instead (place the plane on the artillery!!). You will need to bring a suitable fighter model.

Battalion, Regimental or Divisional Support
0-3 Barbed wire 10 points per section (up to 3 sections may be used per slot)
Six inch long sections no wider than 1". Barbed wire uses any free support slots and is not available to German Attack and Assault Battalions or British Tank Battalions. Barbed Wire should be placed as you place your force.
Once we have an idea of which armies will be deploying, the main theme of the campaign will be decided and more details added to create a suitable background to follow Junes' events although it is likely the Allies will be attempting to stop the Central Powers consolidating their positions.
Mission objectives and deployments will be determined by the difference in points between Battalions- details on the day. Some of the missions will be on pre set tables and may involve a couple of players and their battalions being put together for a larger offensive against a single player. There will be 3 games subject to the right balance of forces

The War to end all Wars
If you'd like to attend our Gaming day but do not have an army ready, would just like to try out the rules or just want to play on one of our own tables, why not take part in one of our purpose built Great War demo games.
All figures, terrain, dice, tape measures plus an umpire to help you along will be provided.
We have space for six players (two per table) and you should get chance to play on all three provided before the day is finished.

Assault on Sari Bair Gallipoli 1915.
Take part in the Wellingtons assault on the Turkish positions on Sari Bair Ridge.
Space for two players, the umpire will play the Turks.
You will get to play on our first Woodbine Design Company 6 x 4 demo table which has featured at GW's Games Day, on Warhammer Historicals website and ran as an article in Wargames llustrated.

Carry on up the Caucasus 1916
Ottoman Assault on Russian train depot, you will have to assault the main ridge and the makeshift Russian trenches before descending on the armoured train and depot beyond.
Space for two players commanding the Turks, umpire will control the Russians.
You will get to play on our most recent 10 x 6 demo game put together by The Woodbine Design Company, Musketeer Miniatures and Realistic Modelling Services

Black day of the German Army 1918
Take control of a British Battalion as it seeks to thrust deep into German lines during the 100 days campaign.
Space for two players commanding the British assault, umpire will control the German trench battalion.
You will get to play on our scratch built modular trench system complete with pill boxes, saps and a huge barbed wire belt!

Through the Mud and the Blood using the TooFatLardies rules
There will also be some tables put aside for players wishing to game a themed "Through the Mud and Blood" campaign similar to the Great War one mentioned above. You will be able to fight through some of the scenarios from "Stout Hearts and Iron Troopers". Once we have an idea of numbers and armies available we can create some solid background and theme. If anyone out there wants to take the lead on this and organise the campaign, that would be really helpful.
We are hoping that Richard Clarke of the TooFatLardies or his appointed representative will be coming along with their Western Front trench table to show off the rules. If so, there will be the opportunity to get into battle on this fantastic table. We will update you on this once we know.

If all goes to plan the results from the two campaigns will be factored together for a decisive result.
Vital supplies
You will need to bring dice, tape measure, relevant rule books and of course a painted army. Warm clothes are also recommended as previous attendees to Gripping Beast events in winter will testify! There will be a range of prizes, kindly provided by amongst others Gripping Beast and Scarab Miniatures. Both companies will of course welcome any preorders for their products, Scarab Miniatures also stock barbed wire and Great War Miniatures for those who need reinforcements
On the day itself players and visitors will be able to browse the full range of Gripping Beast and associated products in their store as well as all the Scarab Miniatures and Great War products.
