Where did you get the Child Discovery Buildings from?

Gathrawn5020 Oct 2009 7:33 p.m. PST

They are actually called "Child Guidance Toys". The company made these building toys back in the 60's there are usually one or two sets on ebay. Actually I know there are a couple on there right now.

Could not help myself. Your web page has driven me to distraction on the buildings and I was reminded I had not looked recently for some of them and what did I find, but three sets. I had just told the wife I had finally found some on eBay when I saw yours and Murphy's posts . . . . I am cursed . . . I know it.

I picked mine up a few months ago when I read his first post about using them. They are awesome buildings! I appreciate the fact he pointed these out!

Thanks,

John

Yeah they were an amazing find. Versatile and easy to paint up. I'm really glad I stumbled upon them and that you guys are having some luck with them.

I completely forgot to say how much I like Mongo's play mat. I have a few urban mats from theterrainguy.com but yours is a work of art. Once the buildings are added, it look fabulous.

Sorry for fogetting to make my original comment, but the Guidencetown quest preoccupied me a little . . . .

HA! I understand the fervor that a quest for toys brings on, all too well.
PHEW! Those terrain guy mats come dear, mine cost me $5 USD for the scrap sheet material(a nice thick kind of vinyl feeling deal) and about 2-3 hours labor.
Thanks for the kind words.
Mongo.

Well, I agree they are nowhere near as cheap as doing your own, I must admit I could never create as rugged and well made a mat as Allen sells. The material is very heavy and best of all there is zero shedding so my wife will even let me occasionally us them on the dinning room table.

On the other hand, hedoes not currently make cool mats with sidewalks, crosswalks and and road markings, so you have a distinct advantage in that category!
