As a reminder that there are other cons beside those put on by HMGS East. Rock Con is this weekend in Rockford Ill. This is a good con with a wide variety of games being played. Their vender area is sold out and the foks are frendly.Starts Friday at the sports core on rt 173. need more info Contact The last Square.

I second the recommendation. Rock-Con is always a lot of fun. One minor correction to Bob's post, though. The Sports Center is at the Riverside Blvd. exit off I-90, which is one exit south of the Rte. 173 exit.

Always a fun time. It is to bad I will be out of the area, again, this year.

I wish that I could make it up there this year. I've always had a good time at Rock Con.

Another "Thumbs Up." This is a great show with a nice mix of historical games, boardgames, SciFi/Fantasy games, and more. For some reason I've always been especially lucky in the silent auction there. One year I picked up a very nice FoW British Paras army for $100 USD and another I picked up a tool box full of painted micro-armor – fully 250 pieces or more – for a mere $50!

I attended it one time back in the 1980s. A great show. Plan to have a good time.
Too bad it is now out of my travel range. It would be great to attend again.

Dang! I was in Rockford only two weeks ago and I will miss it!
Have a great time, y'all.

Took a look at the games listed and it does seem a bit light on historical games. A lot of fantasy and sci-fi. Take out the repeats and you have a pretty small historical offering.

Our bunch is taking a breather. Normally we would host a SYW game of Batailles de l'Ancien Régime 1740-1763. The BIG Battalion game on the 10th instant, however, was deemed too close. We thought we might need a rest and a brief change of subject too.

It is a good show/convention. The staff (Antina comes to mind) is super when it comes to helping people running games. None better would be my guess.

Bill

I would like to know how the Con was? Mike Adams

Rock Con26 Oct 2009 10:40 p.m. PST

I would like to thank all of those who attended Rock-Con 2009. We had a great dealers area, a good silent auction, 2 historical tournaments (Flames of War and Warhammer Ancients) and a good group of gamemasters who ran a wide range of games. I would also like to thank my Mighty Minions for all there help this year. Our dates for 2010 are October 22nd – 24th, 2010. Bill~I did miss you this year! Please tell me you'll run your SYW game for me in 2010.

Hello,

Here is the Rock-Con Minions Photo album. Not everyone has given me copies of their pictures, so the album should grow over the next few days.
