I'll have to stop there on my way home tonight. It has been a while since I've done some old west gaming and I think it is about time I did some again. |

My local Walgreens has two sets, one red (freight) and one green (passenger) that are WWII-ish European Steam Engines with European rolling stock.(gondola, boxcar, and/or passenger car) The only issue is that they are sort of an in-between size. The trains are a 'little big' for 20mm-1/72nd and a 'little small' for 25mm/28mm. However, I think that they could work for either, but probably better for the 20mm scaled games. Usually the Dollar stores ("Dollar Tree" here) have a cheap train that is ACW-ish. Again, it's closer to 20mm scale, but is totally usuable for 25mm/28mm. The trains just need some repainting and weathering. Plus, track packs or trian car 2-packs are only $1. USD Can't beat that. |

I have one of these and it works fine for 28mm. Mine is for a game based on the Dark of the Sun set in early 1960's Congo "Bandit Train" Here is the whole converted train picture original picture |

Fellow Railroad Barons and Train Robbers, I gather these come with oval track? Is there a commercially available alternative so that you can have a nice 12' long section of track? Thanks, Lost Pict |

Bob That train came out pretty cool what figures are manning it? And what track did you use? |

I know this has come up before but has anyone spotted any of these in any UK shops? |

Regarding track
the basic "Express" sets come with only 2 straight sections (which are about 12" in length). If you check out the "original" picture Bob and his Dog provided, you will find a diagram on the cover showing the track. That is WRONG! It looks like it comes with 4 straight sections. I bought two Express sets just to have 4' of straight track, so I can run a rail line down the short end of my 6' x 4' table. Then I picked up a third set to get 2 more feet so I could run the rails down the long edge, and not only did I NOT notice it, but the seller on ebay didn't either. The big train box had a bonus box of 12 straight track sections taped to the end! (I sent the seller additional funds for this bonus box). I only bring this up because this means that Fast Lane did at one time sell these small boxes of extra track. So those wanting more straight track sections might not need to buy entire train sets like I did to get them. The box has no product or identifying numbers on it, just the FastLane logo, and in large yellow letters 12 Straight Tracks (12 Pistas Rectas), Bonus (Prima!). The box is 2.25" x 2.25" x 14" long, and red. Also, Goldlok makes train sets and their track is identical to FastLane. The track itself is excellent btw. The ties actually have a slightly raised woodgrain imprint, so a light drybrushing will bring out those details easily. |

Bob Did you use this modified train set for a scenario at Historicon or Cold Wars? It looks familiar. |

O scale track works pretty good. |

Shadow, I think one of the guys at the Northern Lancaster Wargamers used one of these for a Spanish Civil War (or maybe WWI) game at one (or more) of the Lancaster Cons. link |

>>I think one of the guys at the Northern Lancaster Wargamers used one of these for a Spanish Civil War (or maybe WWI) game at one (or more) of the Lancaster Cons.<< Nope. Not that one. Although the train and scenario both look terrific! I'm fairly certain the train that I remember is the one in the link posted by Bob (and his dog). |
