Calling all flats experts.

I have always wanted to have a go at these figures but know little about them. Can anyone tell me which, in their opinion, are the best, most detailed flat figures available and where to get them?

I am particularly keen on Napoleonic subjects especially hussars, Guard lancers and mamelukes.

They have a good set of links to most of the manufacturers.

Hope this helps,

I'm not sure they're the best, but I visited the Berliner Zinnfiguren store earlier this year and have a blog entry about it. I still haven't painted up my Sudan range that I purchased. Click on the link and scroll towards the bottom. They have great elephants.

Thank you, for those links. The Berlin shop looks fantastic and I imagine a visit there would prove rather expensive for me!!

There is quite an extensive collection at Caillou, Napoleons HQ the night before Waterloo. This really whet my appetite for giving them a go

Is the British Flat Figures forum still going? Tried to register and it wouldn't let me and have sent an email to the webmaster and no response? Very frustrating.

Rob,

Yes, BFFS is quite active. New members are welcome. Simon the webmaster gets behind sometimes but I'm sure he's not simply ignoring you. I'll send him a message about your registration attempt.

As for "which is the best", tough question. Great flats have been produced in their thousands. And if Napoleonics are your special interest, there's a surfeit of riches.

Be sure to join in on the BFFS Forum. No need to be shy, there is a lot of information to be had from there.
