There are lots of bad monster movies. Some of them, we love regardless of thier badness, or even because of it! I'd love to know which monsters in really bad sci fi movies you guys love, and why you love them. I mean normal sized monsters, by the way, not kaiju (Japanese huge monsters). My first thought was the rug monster from The Creeping Terror. I love his ruggishness, his gurgling roar, and his taste for the ladies, and when I say taste I mean it! Never has their been a more threatening length of cut pile! Ok, you next

I thought the monster from "It Conquered the World" was the "Slice of Pizza" monster! Irishserb, when I was a boy, I saved my pennies (literally) until I thought I had enough, put them in an envelope, and mailed them to the Aurora model company, with a request to please send me the Creature kit. All because the drug store in my neighborhood did not carry that kit, and neither did the local department store, a Great Eastern. (This was in 1969.) A few weeks later I got the change back thanking me for my interest but telling me that they did not sell direct. I was crushed! |

I don't know what the movie is, but this monster was some sort of giant green lizard that shot slime out of it's mouth and was apparently immune to the fire of tanks, howitzers and everything else the Swedish military threw against it. It looked like it was made out of paper machie, coat hangers and a shoe box. It was the absolute worst looking special effect I've ever seen. It was awesome in it's badness. |

Pictors, the critter was "Reptilicus," and IIRC he was fighting the Danish Army, not the Swedes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reptilicus
Yummy, that one

For me, it remains a tie between The Creeping Terror and Ro-Man from Robot Monster. Both are IMHO the ultimate in ultra-low D-minus budget costume design!
Then again, are we limited to films in the *English* language? If not, there's some really desperately cheesy Japanese sci-fi critters I could name

Irisherb and Zeelow The Creature From The Black Lagoon wasn't a bad movie monster. In fact, he was one of the best ever. How about The Blob. One of the dumbest monsters, but still a fun flick. or *any* of the creatures in "Plan 9". |

>>Shadow, I think the blob (and the remake) are actually rather good movies. Horses for courses.<< The movie (1958) was good
the monster was absurd. A big red blob of jello from outer space that eats everything in it's path? You can't take that seriously. But the flick was fun anyway. |

Man, it's been years since I've seen Inframan. For some reason, all the kids in my neighborhood thought it was just the coolest thing ever when it came out in the states. I always remembered Princess Dragon Mom as Queen Dragon Mom but like I said, I haven't seen it in years. Too bad Kaiju is out because I loved those movies when I was a kid. The Smog Monster (as in Godzilla vs.) remains my all time favorite worst monster. I tried to think of a "normal sized" monster but sorry, kaiju is what I grew up with. |

Giant bug like things from the Salton Sea. What was the title of that film? The turning point was when the young girl turned the heat of the water up allowing the monsters to hatch. Typical bad B-movie goodnes. |

What's wrong with you people! Them! and The Creature from the Black Lagoon are among the best monster movies ever made. Period. They are on a completely different playing field from some of the true schlock monsters (aka, Robot Monster and Green Slime) mentioned. You truly are a Lost (in Space) Generation! If I had to vote for truly hysterically lame monsters, normal size, I would have to vote for Robot Monster or the creatures from the Horror of Party Beach. If you allow giant non-kaiju monsters, I would probably vote for the awesome and terrifying Gargan space lobster from Teenagers from Space, although the space turkey from the Giant Claw and the Giant Gila Monster would tie for a close second place. Mulligan G Dog: The Salton Sea killer mollusk monsters were from a movie called The Monster that Challenged the World. |
