I'd like to give notice on my new blog. Its about my 7YW armies – all being German 30 mm flats. It will be about the troops, uniforms, and last but not least about wargames.

Cheers,
Christian

Nice one, Christian.

Particularly like the photo of the regt Russian gun mounting the two coehorns. Had read of them but never seen an image.

Looking forward to seeing more of your flats- don`t get too many of them in our part of the world.

Christian,

Congratulations with your SYW blog. I have linked your blog to mine and look forward to reading information about Austrian and Hungarian Grenadiers, as I am in the process to painting two combined grenadier battalions.

cheers,
Robert

I really like flats, although I am not ready yet to expand to this area…

I have tried to track down the Russian guns, but no luck so far!

Thanks for sharing with us your findings!!!

I've bookmarked your blog. Not my area of interest, but I DO like flats. Fine job on both your blog and the miniatures!

You really make those flats come alive. Nicely done.

This is right up my alley, Christian. I love flats. And your painting is excellent. Very well done.

Great work Christian! Looking forward to hearing how you game with those wonderful flats.

Your take on IR40's facing colour is very convincing – I confess I never looked up the original description. Now "flesh-coloured" does indeed seem a long way from the hot pink ususally depicted…

Excellent site and terrific painting. I have been pondering doing some flats at some point…….anyone tell me some good manufacturers sites in English please?

Edit: Ooh found some now, very hard to resist these beauties

Thanks Guys,
Glad you like them. The story will continue. A challenge will be good shots taken from out of a game. Despite people telling different, you can actually play with them. However, their candy side is profile only. That makes for obvious limits when trying to do captures of a game. I guess I won't be able to come up with the wonderful superb quality shots of DAF et al. I will have to get one of those small 3-pods, that you can place right on the table, or buy a new camera with more zoom capability. The prior should be less costly.

Beutiful work Christian,

I have also joined as a freind to keep up to date on your work. I am to scared to use my napoleonic flats for gaming!

cheers

When one games with flats, all artillery shots directed to their non-existing 3rd dimension receive a -2 penalty.

This is one of the least known advantages of gaming with flats.

My Prussian Horse Artillery, made of Grunewald Flats, is unbeatable!

crogge175721 Oct 2009 1:53 p.m. PST

Yeah,

Frederick's system of turning the flanc don't work good with flats. You have to attack en front. Your opponent won't see the troops charging him :–).

Ioannis – you mix flats with 3-d in your games?

ioannis22 Oct 2009 12:24 p.m. PST

Yes, I do!

Well, I have only one base, a horse artillery group, so it's not that much…

But, despite the initial jokes, everybody gets busy when the game starts and what really matters then is how well your guns shoot!!!

I plan to get more flats mixed in once I get the 3d figures balanced across armies. It will be mostly troops otherwise unavailable, like bakers, hussars in capes, pioneers, camp scenes, etc…
