Aaarrrgh -- no pdf download yet. I shall wait impatiently. One question for you, sir, what comes on the deluxe pdf? Does it add those assorted doodads (2d ships, hexmap, counters and such)? |
| GreyONE | 19 Oct 2009 11:16 p.m. PST |
The Deluxe version comes with all the PDF files that come with the Book and the CD version such as the 2D ships, hex mats, 2D counters etc., The Deluxe version comes with the Carthaginian Navy Set (Roman Seas 3D ship models set). E,H.

Yay – at last – only direct sales or is anyone distributing in the UK? Oh and two immediate related questions
. What size hexes on the Hex mat are ideal for the 3D models you make and for the 2D counters with the book/CD/PDF? |
| GreyONE | 22 Oct 2009 10:54 a.m. PST |
Hex sizes for Roman Seas 3D models: 5 inch hexes, but you can get away with 4 inch hexes for Quadremes ships or smaller.. For the 2D ship counters: 1 inch hexes, but the game book/CD/PDF comes with PDF game board files you can get printed. European sizes A4 to A0 / North American sizes up to 24 x 32 inches. Hotz Mats are available with all these hex sizes. E.H.

5 inch
wow, thats bigger than I thought from the pictures I had guessed about 3 inch
good thing I asked :) |
| GreyONE | 22 Oct 2009 4:00 p.m. PST |
3 inch hexes works nicely with 1/600th scale ships, but that mat depend upon the you are using. I believe a 1/600th scale ship model will fit into a 3 inch hex (my 1/600th scale ACW ships fit nicely into 3 inch hexes). If you scale back the Roman Seas ships models to 1/600th scale, you can easily get away with 3 inch hexes. I few people have done this for their games. E.H.

Ok
.so they scale nicely. Thats useful to know. More space on the battlefield. For a newbie to this sort of thing, is that literally just print at 50% to scale down? Thanks
|

Yes, 50% reduction, although you could go with a slightly less reduction in size. To make the ship building earlier, customers making 1/600th scale have left off the outriggers -- at 1/600th scale, probably no will notice they are not on the models. E.H.
