Does anyone know the identity and facings colour for the Saxon that formed part of the Magdeburg garrison and fought at the battle of Hagelberg in 1813? The only info I have found is a reference to them as the Ducal regt in the General de Brigade rules. Am hoping to find out a bit more as they are a good excuse to add some of the lovely Calpe Saxon figures to my French army! |

They weren't Kingdom of Saxony troops, but the survivors of the Saxon Duchies (Saxe-Weimar, Saxe-Coburg, etc.). Look at Histofig.com under Empire for uniforms. Ed |

There's some info here and a place where you could repeat your question for folks who are into Saxons: link |

Simon, my OOBs show the 1st and 2nd battalions of the Saxon Ducal House Infantry regiment at Hagelsburg. These weren't troops of the Kingdom of Saxony but, as mentioned above, from the Saxon Duchies. I don't know much about their uniforms I'm afraid. |

The 2 battalions were each composed of 4 companies from Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and 1 from Saxe-Meiningen. I think that they then selected a grenadier company, who were given red epaulets – otherwise they had blue habits – collars, cuffs, retroussis and revers red – cuff flaps blue piped red – yellow buttons – white veste/gilet – blue pantalons with a red stripe on the side – short black gaiters – white leatherwork – and for officers the more stylish black leatherwork, golden details including a band on the top of the shako, white culottes. picture picture picture picture |
