Oh, dear

I see what you mean – especially those huge charging knights on the Tiger turrets

Garand18 Oct 2009 6:02 p.m. PST

Some late Panthers had the crosses on the turret, but I've never seen any with the numbers on the hull. Turret numbers were often just as much for the benefit of the Plt Ldr as anything (this is why many had numbers on the back of the turret…so the Plt Ldr can identify exactly what tank he's looking at).

Also while the paintjob is good, the models themselves look "meh!" including the bent barrel on one… :)

Are these BF minis, or someone else's?

Damon.

Someone else's. There are some horrible mold lines there.

That is a shame, since they are nicely painted vehicles, otherwise.

I actually like the Knights on the turret sides – a shame they are charging the wrong way.

I can't get past the mold lines not being cleaned up before painting, but the numbers and crosses being totally out of place is bad too. Best not to include them at all if you can't do them correctly.

It appears I am not the only one that hates removing mold lines, but I do try to take the time to do that, anyway. I imagine doing a proper cleanup job, before painting these would have a significant impact on the profit earned, since it is very time-consuming. Using a Dremel might speed things up, if a production line was set up.

Hopefully, they will pay a bit more attention to the small details in the future.

Another thing I noticed about the figures themselves is that they appear to be mixing the chin mantlet of late Gs with the zimmerit. ISTR there was a month between these two items, with zimmerit discontinued in Aug 1944, and the chin mantlet introduced slightly later. Think I'll give them a pass if I see them…

You'd think that if they're trying to faithfully represent late war Tigers from Panzer Abteilung 505 on the Eastern Front, they should at least TRY to do it right (like Battlefront in the pic below):

Those look like Command Decision vehicles. Biggest problem with the Panthers and Tigers is that the tracks are attached backwards on several models.

Broken decal on PzIVH #112.

I'll pile in.

Paint jobs are just beautifully done. He should have stopped there. grin

One thing no one else has said – the guy obviously doesn't know much about tanks. He has cam netting which doesn't look that convincing and neither does the vegetation on it. However, I would have given the cam netting a "good try" if he had not decided to completely cover the driver vision ports and have it draped over the front of the turret blocking gunner sights and then on the deck and half way up the turret – recipe for a jammed turret or, most likely, torn to shreds cam net.

What he's done with cam nets is the infantry equivalent of putting a sheet with no holes to see out of over a soldier… it really ruins the effect, more so than the misplacement of the numbers.

AND……

Have another look at those Panthers running gear.

Think that officially makes it a FUBAR! thumbs up

dmebust19 Oct 2009 8:00 a.m. PST

My god they are on backwards! Nice must have been tired of being poked fun at, so pass along the fun.

One good little thing about those Panthers, they would be good for a fighting retreat scenario.

aercdr19 Oct 2009 5:19 p.m. PST

A real shame. Oh well…

Buzzkill21 Oct 2009 6:21 p.m. PST

PZ IV's on the last link, Tank 115 has its tracks and Schurzen mounted backwards…Why do I get the feeling that a little chinese boy painted these in a sweat shop?

Paul Y23 Oct 2009 8:45 p.m. PST

So, apart from the back-to-front tracks and running gear, unusually placed decals, strange-looking camo nets, mold lines, main armament that looks like boiled spaghetti and hull machine-guns that look like bananas, they are OK?

;)

Cheers,
Paul.

Jade green was obviously a highly prized camm colour?
