Hi

Simple question: who make the best?

Second question: does anyone have/know of pictures of Pendraken's range as the official site is lacking.

Thanks

best for which period? all the manufacturers probably vary in quality.

one good place for pictures is 10mmworld.com

fred12df17 Oct 2009 1:28 p.m. PST

I've got pics of a few Pendraken Orcs & goblins here kerynne.com/games/WMOrc.html

The GW Warmaster ranges are good – these figures are based on strips.

Kallistra is another option.

I second the 10mmworld.com reference. They have great pics.

I wish the option of 10mm had been around when I started collecting for fantasy armies, skirmish and dungeon project. I spent a lot of time and money collecting PILES of 15mm (mostly Grenadier Warlords) to use, and now I'd rather have 10mm. damint!

Hi
do Kallista match up in size ecause the site says 10/12mm

Yeah 10mm is bloody great! I have 6mm and 28 but 10mm just adds something special

10mm is a very good scale-- the equivalent of 1:285 modern/sci fi if you ask me. You get just enough detail but also you get that huge-army feel.

GW makes the best overall fantasy minis IMO. Copplestone is also very good. GW's Battle of Five Armies minis are good but the range is limited to the box set.

I haven't got any Eureka or Kallistra. Word on the street is that a few early Eureka models were a bit small next to the GW figures. Most are very compatible. Kallistra I haven't seen compared up close; I seem to recall hearing that they are a bit big compared to everyone else's minis, but I haven't seen it myself.

@thebinmann, in my blog you'll find lots of pictures of painted 10mm. fantasy figures: link
IMO, Warmaster are the best ones followed by Copplestone, Eureka and Pendraken, in that order.
As somebody pointed out, Warmaster ranges usually come in strips, except with Command, shooters and skirmishers blisters. If you don't have them, hurry up as GW is going to eliminate them very soon. On Ebay you can find them cheap.

Huh wuzzatnow…?!?

I was lucky enough to get my Kislev army before it was discontinued,
but I -really- want an Araby army;
the price raise from $10. USD to $15. USD makes it a hard pill to swallow, though-
But!! If they are being discontinued, I'll get myself a glass of water…

Where and When did you hear this…?

noraneko17 Oct 2009 6:07 p.m. PST

Copplestone, GW Warmaster, Eureka (second release), Old Glory.

I have some comparison photos on my blog. Choose "10mm fantasy" from the "Categories" menu on the right.

Third Age.

@blacksmith I have looked at you site with interest and just before doing so I had deciced to do a 10mm Orc's Drift so when I saw yours I was glad to see it had worked.
After that I'm going to go for Lichemaster and McDeath!

I had a question about your buildings, where are they from?

BTW do you paint for sale?

Buff Orpington18 Oct 2009 8:44 a.m. PST

The difference between Kallistra & GW elves isn't enough to make them incompatible, same for Undead. All My Chaos are GW. They are all closer to 12 than 10mm. The Baggage Train is developing a true 10mm historical line that are much smaller than either, I'll be getting a Norman army as soon as they are in production.

blacksmith18 Oct 2009 12:32 p.m. PST

@Volstagg, look here: link

@thebinmann, the building are free to download from Brumbaer's site: brumbaer.de/index.html
I'm a very slow miniature painter so I'm afraid I don't paint for sale for that reason.

@ thebinmann. We unfortunately don't have enough pics of the website, but we're in the process of adding a load, ready for our new website launching.

We can always send you out some samples if you like? Drop us an email if you're interested.

Cheers
