What British planes flew from British carriers?
I've got Gladiators and Swordfish. Anything else?

Aviator17 Oct 2009 7:47 a.m. PST

Sea Hurricane, Seafire, Albacore, Firefly, Fulmar, Skua, Roc, Barracuda

Some non-British planes (such as Corsairs and Martlets) also flew from RN carriers, if you're interested in that, too.

Even a Mosquito, as an experiment.

I don't think that the Roc ever deployed on carriers, the R also deployed Hellcats and Avengers, know breifly as Tarpons.

A further challenge…waht planes on which carriers?
Furious, Glorious, Implacable, etc,?
Everything I have indicates number of planes but, what types…?

Plynkes17 Oct 2009 10:27 a.m. PST

That depends on date. Illustrious had Fulmars and Swordfish at the time of her famous raid on the Italian fleet at Taranto, but later on she carried Corsairs and Avengers.
