I posted these on the GatG forum, but it seems sparsely visited so I thought I'd try here too.

1. Can infantry move obliquely in normal moves (not charge). If so, how far off center can they oblique? (i.e. 30 degrees, 45 degrees?).

2. Infantry in skirmish formation must have their bases at least 3" apart (in 28mm). But what's the maximum? If there's no maximum then a small number of skirmish bases could screen many close order units.

Thanks for any answers.

I would interpret it to mean 3" is also the maximun distance.
(I would also allow for reasonable placement due to intervening terrain as well but that's juat me).
I dont beleive the rule was meant to allow for a unit of say 3 figures to go on the table at 3 feet apart and allow those 3 figures to screen the entire army standing behind them.
I do not know what the rules have to say about oblique movements but I can see no reason to allow them to be used while charging but not during a normal movemnent.
YMMV.
