"Where is the prince who can afford so to cover his country with troops for its defense, so that ten thousand men descending from the clouds might not,in many places, do an infinite deal of mischief before a force could be brought together to repel them?" -Benjamin Franklin, 1784

How would the various VSF settings have taken to aerially-borne soldiering?

What figures are available in 25/28mm and 15mm for these units?

Be a Real Man and make your own. Get some GW WFB Birdmen of Catrazza, and hang Zouaves from them, like I did.

"The aircraft is all very well for sport – for the army it is useless" – Ferdinand Foch ca. WW1?

One of my all time favorite quotes.

I suppose the first order of business would be to start modifying the various lighting gun and heatray carriages in your army, so they can fire up into the air, not just at the ground forces :)

Brigade US make some excellent ACW era rocket troops. Pulp Figures makes US rocket troops, maybe post Victorian, and excellent German/Prussian Zeppelin troops. The Scheltrum flyers are excellent.

Bob (and his little dog, too) beat me to the punch with the suggestion of Brigade Games.

I modified SuperFigs' Katyusha Rockets, with some brass wire and paintwork, into the ca. 1900 steam-powered US Army Screeching Eagles, complete with pneumatic dynamite guns.

Don't just tease us! Let's see some pictures! That sounds like a very cool project.
