""Licensed to Sockpuppet"?" Topic

SInce we have a variety of manufacturers and their employees, demo team members, etc., many of whom have user names unconnected to those companies, I was just musing over the practicality of adding a "Company Represent of" field to the Member Profile. Aside from offering another source of Profile humor, it would cut down of the "who is this guy again?" queries, accusations of sock-puppetry, and some of the unwarranted acrimony.

Thoughts?

I am a sock puppet for Cavalcade Wargames. I've requested Bill for a supporting membership to certify me as such, but haven't yet received a response. It's been 6 weeks:(

I used to sock puppet for Dark Age Games. Then I gave up, no one seemed to care lol! However, my "punkrabbitt" ID was very closely tied to Dark Age for many years, so eventually I added "Beloved Of Unut" after it to kind of distance myself. Lately I have gone for a whole new internet identity, coupled with a new car, so I will be known as "impala" until the next time I change my mind about who I want to be.

Oh, and I try to sock puppet for Worldworks Games, but I always forget to drop in the hints and references…

I remember the 'good old days' when sock puppets were REALLY puppets, (like Cecil the Sea-sick sea serpent), or when folks were 'bought out/sold themselves out'…they STAYED 'bought'…(ala pre-nixon era)…and I like sock puppet miniatures….and…

IF I'm a 'fan'/somehow connected in any way with any company on TMP, be it as a (rabid) fan of their products, friends of the company, or help provide 'notice'/hints of 'new stuff' or in anyway show 'positive' (or negative?) support/panning of said company I'm a 'tool of the propaganda machine, or the proliteriet???'

Good grief….well, maybe I'm a 'SOCK TENTACLE' then….(now THERE's an idea for a stuffed toy/miniature! should I suggest THAT to Team Frog???? 8-)

It SEEMS to me that unless you're DEAD in CHICAGO and still vote three times for the same candidate in general elections or your name is CHAD and you're from Florida….being a REAL 'sock-puppet' should mean something more 'perfidious' than you're using an 'alternate' pen-name to 'rave' about stuff.

On the other tentacle…what's wrong in saying under your REAL 'name'…that you're connected with someone/something and support it or not…depending on the topic being merchandise, Blue Fez, Jock Strap or Humor etc topics?

MOST of us…whatever our 'genre' interests…STILL like to hear about NEW stuff from other companies….(Hey, IF it has TENTACLES, I wanna know…NO MATTER WHO makes it!!!! for example!)

but then again….if I pre-qualify that most folks always used COMMON sense/COMMON courtesy in their TMP posts…(other than in the BASEMENT or dealing with SALAD BAR 'issues' of course)….then it would be a much happier place…

Probably, statistically speaking. I'm sure statistically there are a few other members of the criminal element here as well.

The thought of some TMPer procreating offends me.

You probably already have and don't know it but it's a fair bet all their girlfriends do know about it. Then again there might be some confusion as to what you mean by miniatures.

My theory is that particular poster does a daily search for the term sex offender. It's a considerable testament to his vanity as well as his persistence.

I've heard that there is a program coming out that is called "Dryer". Each time a load of sockpuppets is run through it, one disappears…. ;-)
