Greetings all, With a genuinely heavy heart I must advise all concerned that we have been forced to cancel Travellercon-USA in Lancster, PA for 2009. We are re-scheduling for October 2010. The Hotel Brunswick has been closed since the mid-late summer for fire code violations by the City of Lancaster Fire Dept. We first learned of this last evening (Saturday, 11 October, 2009). People have been unable to phone the desk at the hotel (or any extension) without getting a voice message that the hotel was renovating. The website stated they would open in the beginning of this month, and when they had not done so, a volunteer went into Lancaster and discovered the hotel closed and a policeman watching the door. We are terribly sorry for canceling (think of it as a postponement) since we genuinely enjoy playing Traveller with our Convention Friends. We will be investigating alternate venues (in Lancaster, PA) and hope to have the location set by next Spring. Anyone having registered will receibe a full refund by EOB Friday, 16 October, 2009. Keep the Flame, Keith F. Travellercon-USA event coordinator |

Oh lord. The Hotel Brunswick has always been a dump but over the last 5 years or so it's gone steadily downhill. Here's hoping it's open in Feb for ECC. |

A hotel in Lancaster that's a dump and a fire code violation? I find that hard to believe. |

I suggest you move the con to Baltimore. |

Or Wilmington DE. Hey, a man can dream, right? (I'd settle for Newark DE. Elkton MD?) |

Wilmington wouldn't be completely out of the question, though we have to consider our boys from OHIO and Minnesota. JOHN OFM – Now THAT was funny. :) Yours, Keith F. |

As a long time Traveller Fan (and related games – Striker, Mayday, Triplanetary, Imperium, etc), I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope your reschedule works out well for you guys! Chuck |

Sorry to hear that. There is always Celesticon, in San Ramon, CA, the weekend of the 23rd of October. Looks like it could use some more games, and players. It is being billed as a Traveller and GZG convention. |

an idea
postpone for weeks, not months. approach a VFW post near by politely and you might end up with a viable (low cost) venue. the posts might be good places for such things, but there could be a profit/non-profit conflict. playing wargames in the presence of actual warriors could be a good thing and educational for all. |

Too bad. Having dealt with hotels for gaming conventions myself, I understand your frustration. |

Why not try up in Reading? 25 miles or so up the road, several decent hotels
. Couldn't hurt. |

Well without a doubt you must move this to San Antonio TX. Pleanty of convention friendly hotels, convention centers, and I think Mark did say at a convention in the past how much he loved San Antonio and would prefer a convention there over anywhere else
seriously
not kidding here

Well I was actually hoping for Michigan, the home of all things wargaming. |

California usually has great weather in the Fall, and barring the early incoming storm, should be fairly nice. At least the rainstorm may bring some much needed water, so you will be able to get ice water to drink, and a shower longer than 15 seconds too

The heck with San Antonio. :) How about Austin. Nice and weird. |
