Dave Toon has kindly put up a photo of some of my Hebrew spearmen in Gallery section. miniaturedesignstudio.co.uk I thought I would go for leather armour. Although (Hollywood in some eyes) I feel they capture the elite forces of King Saul or David and perhaps the later standing army of David and Solomon right up to Assyrian wars. I have gone for bright colours for this unit as Syrian influence. Rest of army will be more muted tones probably. I will be using these to boost my Castaway Arts and Newline Design forces. At £25.00 GBP for 50 spearmen this can really get an army finished or started for cheap. Additions will be made to this range I believe. Some lighter spearmen I think. Don't know if anything else yet. |

Nicely done Mr. Knight! May have to consider these, after my S.Persians. Got my first order from MDS the other day. Great figures and amazing turn aroung time, across the pond to the virginis colonie in less than 10 days! Outstanding all the way around. |

Too bad MDS doesn't have many photos of their products on their site. |

Too bad MDS doesn't have many photos of their products on their site. Fine example of irony!

"Too bad MDS doesn't have many photos of their products on their site." They are a new company only been around a few months and the range is expanding very very rapidly, it hardly suprising that at this point there aren't many pics. Though personally I feel there are 'enough' to know whether you want to buy or not. |

There is a picture of every single miniature they currently have in production. Don't be mislead by the headings for future releases that have not yet gone into production. |

If you probe deeper on the site all released figures have photos I believe. |

How do they compare size wise to other companies' products. |
| BravoX | 12 Oct 2009 3:20 a.m. PST |
Similar size to say Warlord Games plastics roman/celts i.e they are the smaller slim or 'realistic' proportioned type of 28mm. |

Very nice work Colin. Obviously you're very interested in ancient Hebrew warriors. For years I've been trying to find good information on King David/Solomon's army, their armour, chariots and weapons. Can you help me with this please? Thanks Philipus |
| colin knight | 12 Oct 2009 1:59 p.m. PST |
Philipus. A good start is Warriors of the old Testement by Mark Healy. WAB Chariot Wars also. Also Battles of the Bible. Check Amazon. Most info come from Bible which is a problem for many scholars. |

Philipus. Not sure how readily available but you could try and track down the Wargames Research Group's "Armies of the Ancient Near East 3,000 BC to 539BC". Nigel Stillman and Nigel Tallis. 1984. |

Thanks Colin and Mithridates. I'll try to find the books. Is there artwork/reconstructions included in these books? Colin, You're going to use your MDS figures to boost up your Castaway arts and Newline Design figures. I have neither of these figures, so it may be my imagination, but aren't Castaway figures and Newline figures rather thin compared with MDS figures? Greetings Philipus |

Philipus-no not thinner. Warriors Of Old Testement has some artwork. Checkout movie King David with Richard Geere for some great costumes. A must is ark from castaway arts. |

Thanks for the info Colin. The site is great. I wonder how he did the lions (beast heads?) on the chariot's front. I will buy the book by Mark Healy. Unfortunately the WRG book turns out to be a little bit too expensive for me. Maybe I can get the info on Hebrews out of this book another way. Don't hesitate to let us know more news on ancient Hebrew figures, books, etc. It's a fascinating period, but maybe a little underpreciated by most manufacturers. Greetings Philipus |

MDS are planning very soon on lighter spearmen and command I think. The response has been good I believe so far. They also have some heavy Philstines very soon also which are good enemies or allies in King Davids army. |

Recently heard that MDS are at present sculpting up medium spearmen for Hebrews and those heavy Philistines are possibly days away from release. |

Nice stuff, but I wonder if they ever plan on doing cavalry? |
| Teklea2018 | 11 Dec 2009 7:08 a.m. PST |
Hi Delbruck – The first Berber cavalry should have been with me by now and ready for release, but apparantly they're still being cast and so should arrive either Tuesday 15th or Wednesday 16th December (Typical!) All of the current ranges will start to fill out now until they are completed.. eventually!! Dave |
