Gentlemen, Please take a moment from your busy schedules to check out the photos of my son's first serious attempt at miniatures painting. The photos in question are of a small band of Eureka's anthropomorphic frogs, purchased direct from Nic at this year's Historicon. I have been sadly remiss in posting the shots. The link is: vbir.blogspot.com Leave comments so my son can get some feedback better than a proud daddy's "Nice job!" |

Let your son know that he did an excellent job. The eyes look really well done on the frogs. Maybe he could add a wash or shading to the areas like the mouth & webbed-feet; not really necessary, but he might want to try that. Excellent job in any case. Keep Painting, Dean P.S. The lizard "dog" is really nice too – nice greens – looks nice shiny. |

Nice frog eyes. It is evident that your son has a steady hand and sharp eyes. Very good job! |

Shoot, those are great! As has been said, the eyes look striking, but beyond that, the paint job is overall great! Smooth finish, nice color choices, some subtle shading. Looks like you have first class painter on you hands, sir! |

Since you *asked* for a critque.. * nice even color coverage..(as mentioned) * appear 'crisp'.. that is, the places where two colors come together (around the eyes, hands and poles, poles and spearpoints) are not 'sloppy'.. * dunno if any research was done (if so.. excellent.>!), but the eyes are actually accurate (the link below will come up with a random frog..) link to the comment about adding a wash or shading to the areas like the mouth & webbed-feet I would add that: the belly could do woth another (probably lighter) shade of green.. tho.. if there are no defining lines on the figure (which I assume not, from the pics).. then that is a matter of drybrushing..which at this point may be 'the next thing to learn'..:-) Overall.. a very good job.. and totally acceptable 'tabletop' figures.. |

They certainly blow away my first attempts. Really smooth application of paint, crisp details. |

Good stuff! Gauging from his first work the lad looks to become a 1st class painter. |

I think he did a nice job. Better painting skill than some of the guys I game with. |

They look grand, well done. May I suggest some patterning on their backs for the next unit? Hope to see you again at HISTORICON 2010. Nic EUREKA MINIATURES |

They look a bit dull. Still anything painted on to protect them would fix that as they would then end up shiny. |

Very nicely done and the eyes look neat and really "make" the figure. Now it's time to up the ante and go for a pattern on the back and maybe a different shade for the underside to really advance the painting. hussarbob1746.webs.com |
