Or, namely, HMS Mersey and HMs Severn, Humber-class.

I have been working on some fictional scenarios for WWI small naval engagements, and one that caught my attention was the battle(s) of Rufiji Delta in East Africa. The problem is that Figurehead's range doesn't include Humber-class ship [all my models are 1/6000 Figurehead.] So, here's my dilemma: what could be a good stand-in? Unfortunately, my knowledge of naval classes is less than stellar, so I hope to count on the expertise of some of you.

By looking at the silhouette of the Humber class,

it looks like that the Austrian Monarch-class (which Figurehead provides) might be an option:

The length of the two vessels would be "close enough" (at 1/6000!), but the weight seems to be completely off… What else?

(I know, I know… at the 1/6000 scale, why bother? But, if with a little of research, I can get it "almost right" at least in terms of appearance, why don't make a try?)

Thanks in advance!

At 1/6000 you are talking about 1/2 of an inch… why not just scratch build one?

FWIW, you could probably get the hull close to correct by cutting off or filing down the bottom – the Humbers were designed as river gunboats and had almost no freeboard. Also the Monarchs mounted twin 9.4" guns in turrets fore and aft while, according to Conway's, the Severn and Mersey (but not the Humber) were refitted in 1914 to mount single 6" Mk VIIs in open mountings fore and aft. You'd have to do some filing to get that to look right but at that scale "almost right" shouldn't be hard to achieve. grin
