The instructions say "shake well" – how many times do you shake it? |

Until you hear the little metal skull inside the bottle rattle around. |

Bill, you really have to shake the out of it for the first time. They're very good, but they require a lot of shaking. I find they require less so than Vallejo, however. Steve cavalcadewargames.com nycjadie.wordpress.com |

Bill get yourself one of these: link I have the battery powered model with rechargeable battery's. Works like a charm. Plus, you can mix a variety of paint container sizes. |

I have the a/c version shaker. The shaker, and some really small glass BBs, work well together. There is also an article, floating on the web, on buying (Radio Shack) and replacing the motor – for a few dollars. |

I usually just shake for about 10 seconds. Maybe 30 seconds for the first use. Ron |

Here's my method, if its new or not used in a long time I shake it for a longer time until I feel it's shaken enough. For paints I use on a regular basis I shake them for less time. Not terribly informative I know, but that's it as it varies each time I use them. If I had to put numbers to it, I'd say about 20 to 30 seconds for new and not used in a long time and about 5 to 10 seconds for those used on a regular basis. |

I, too, use the Robart. The first time I use a bottle I shake for two 30 second increments. After that, while I'm painting, I shake a few times by hand every time I pick it up. The big problem with all the dropper bottle paints is that it is impossible to get the paint stuck in the neck to get mixed in with the rest of bottle contents. This causes some waste. BTW, the Robart shaker isn't big enough to handle a bottle of craft paint. For dropper bottles it is ideal. |
