that Nappy is the first Anti-Christ. Is there any way to legally force them to change the channel's name? : ) I mean I'm no fan of the fellow, but "anti-Christ"? Really? How about the Soothsayer channel? |
| Connard Sage | 07 Oct 2009 11:23 a.m. PST |
Give over. No 's going to take an anti-Christ called Pampers seriously. Allow me to explain: nappy = a baby's arse rag. Or did you mean 'Napoleon'? |

| Grizwald | 07 Oct 2009 11:42 a.m. PST |
"They are one and the same
" Which? Nappy = Napoleon or Napoleon = Anti-Christ? FWIW, I don't think either is true. |
| M C MonkeyDew | 07 Oct 2009 11:46 a.m. PST |
It's the Nostrodamus Effect. Apparently to make one Nostro's prophesies fit you can play with the letters and numbers involved in order to make it fit. So I propose that Napoleon = Nappy, and yet if you invert the N and call it an SCR, that the first anti-Crhist is Scrapy and further if Napoleon=Nappy and Nappy = Diaper than the one named Scrappy Doo must be the first anti-christ or maybe the third and last. Gosh now I'm really confused, |
| Connard Sage | 07 Oct 2009 11:47 a.m. PST |
Makes perfect sense to me now. Why didn't you say that in the first place? |
| M C MonkeyDew | 07 Oct 2009 11:50 a.m. PST |
It hadn't occurred to me until I saw the end of the program. I mean, Hitler is the second anti-Christ
and well that's a given isn't it? They threw around a lot of names, those one would expect an American TV show to through, and yet Scrappy Doo was not mentioned a sure sign that he is the one. |

Back when I ask an undergraduate history student, one of my professors told the class to "enjoy the pictures, but never watch the History Channel with the sound on." I think this helps to prove his point. |

Bob and his Dog, They left their options open but here is the short list in no particular order: Saddam Hussein George W Bush Barrak Obama Osama Bin Laden Kim Il Jong Some person unknown but currently living in Iran or the PRC or Africa or Israel. I do not want this to turn into a blue fez deal. Suffice it to say that although it was very US-centric in candidacy, they tried to be an equal opportunity accuser. More importantly apparently Leonardo Di Vinci predicted our demise by means of ecological disaster and hid his warnings in his paintings because he didn't think anyone would listen if he just told them so outright

I agree that the "history" channel shows a lot of rubbish and should perhaps be renamed the nut-bag conspiracy of the week channel. However I must put in a good word for 'Ice road truckers' et al. These are a kind of history, even if they are not entirely 'real'. What we wouldn't give for accounts of how common people lived and worked in the past. Everyone recorded how Kings lived and died, but we often know next to nothing about how the lives of the underlings. In the future, SOME of these 'reality' programs may be an important historical resource. |

The History Channel has taught me that there were quite few different groips in Dallas in 1963 to shoot JFK. Quite a few of them must have been qite startled when someone else took the first shot. |

(what a fool I was). Now I watch mainly "SHOWTIME" and "NIC JNR". |

I watched the Parthians attack Aurelian's men today – the Parthians were on foot, chucking scimitars and carrying shields scarcely larger than their hand. Then, I got to see the Jersey Devil. *sigh* I understand "UFO Hunters" has been cancelled, so perhaps a little bit of cleaning has begun. |
| M C MonkeyDew | 08 Oct 2009 5:28 a.m. PST |
Clay, I too am in the Nappy=diaper crowd. So it aint't broken. |
| M C MonkeyDew | 08 Oct 2009 5:30 a.m. PST |
UFO Hunters was replaced with Mysteryquest, an offshoot of Monsterquest so its a zero sum change. The show about mythology is not too terrible if you don't watch and just listen. |

I see a scenario here. Several groups converge on Dallas to carry out the foul deed. Each vying against one another while trying not to tip off the authorities. Would work in many settings. |

How is this Napoleonic wargaming discussion? |
| M C MonkeyDew | 08 Oct 2009 7:45 a.m. PST |
"How is this Napoleonic wargaming discussion?" It's a great multi-player skirmish scenario! 1809: La couche-culotte empereur is en route to the Danube. Only the opposition has gotten wind of his move. Assassins are abroad. Player 1: C de B in his coach with his cavalry escort. La couche-culotte empereur must make his way from short table end to short table end. The terrain is a mix of wilderness that one might expect to find in central Europe with a road running from short end to short end. Assassin players: As many as you need to accommodate may enter so long as you do not have more then one player for each faction opposed to Nappy. Royalists, Austrians, Tyrolian patriots, Brits, Russians, Spaniards etc. It could even be a nation temporarily at peace with France, so long as they would profit from removing the diaper in the long run. The exact make up of each team should depend upon just how many assassin players are going to play. Then you have a choice to make. Will this be a strictly historical game or fantasy? If you go the fantasy route then La couche-culotte empereur as the anti-Christ is entitled to additional supernatural forces for protection. Perhaps evil cherubs would suit? However if you do this then the assassin players should also be provide with holy men or relics to counter the little devils helping the Emperor. |

According to Ian Paisley (snr), the Pope is the Anti-Christ. However, he has never specified which one, or whether they all are as and when they take office. In Napoleon's case, it could explain why the Royal Navy rejected him; they were quite fussy back then, apparently. |

For me I think the History Channel is as bad as the Sci-Fi Channel, now that channel really SUCKS big time. And in some cases you can't really call it the Sci-Fi channel anymore, since at times they show NON Sci-Fi films like Braveheart and Red Scorpion. And the movies are VERY BAD IMHO. Captain Gideon |
