Here are some pictures I took this evening. I placed an RE8 and a DIII on the mats and shot from several angles so that you can see how intrusive (or nonintrusive) the logos are. I also tried to show how the plasic flight bases really disappear in use (the flash made the posts show up more than the ambient room lighting). Notice how tight the seam between the two mats is as well.

They look great. Except for those big logos in the corner. Why did they do that!?

That and the MSRP are the biggest complaints about these mats. Obviously, it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I kind of look at it this way: If I can suspend disbelieve and ignore inconsistanties to play games like Sky Galleons of Mars, DBA, 40K, etc and enjoy movies like Independence Day, and Lord of the Rings, then I can ignore the logos on the playmat.

IMHO, the whole game is huge fun in a kind of lighthearted sort of way. There is no attempt at a real simulation here, rather a quick enjoyable game with an WWI Aero theme and flavor. The garrish logos are strangely consistant and not at all out of place.

Do I think that the mats would be better with one logo instead of two? Sure. Would they be improved with logos half the size? Yep. Am I going to let either of these "issues" lessen my enjoyment of the games I play on these mats? Of course not.

Hey Ray,

Drop me an email, I have several trips planned down to RAFB the next month or so. Retirement stuff. Would love to get a game in if able.

Thanks for posting those. I've been on the fence about these but your pictures show how nice the mats really are, so I'm now leaning more toward getting them than not (IF I can come up with some 'disposable income', that is.) Yes, the logos are large, but they are out on the corners, more or less out of the way, so they're not a deal-breaker for me.
