A lot has been said about the hybrids Stalin allegedly planned to make: link I know I posted this as a fictional scenario. However, IF it could be done now, and someone did combine the two and raised the resulting creature(s) . . . Would it be anything like this? link Or this? Chuman Or even this? link If someone were to make miniatures of a hybrid, do you think it should be more ape-like or more human-like? What features would you say the miniatures should have, to make them look like convincing hybrids? If done for military purposes, do you think that the ape DNA would be Chimpanzee (the most regularly violent of the great apes*)? Or do you think they would go with something more docile, so as to have better control of it? CC * news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/6387611.stm link link link |

Go to any "heavy duty" gym in the USA
you'll find a lot of Ape/Human hybrids

The first picture is kinda cute, an I think most likely. The second picture looks like a chimp / grey hybrid. The third is just a poor hairless chimp. I like the psychically controlled Russian chimp miniatures from weird war two :) |

Hmmm, the "Chuman" artist seems to think that crossing the species will lead to the hybrid having eyes 5 to 6 times as large as either. I'd imagine something like one of the extinct human ancestors would be the likeliest look as Ogednlulimus suggests. |
| Cacique Caribe | 05 Oct 2009 4:50 p.m. PST |
So, would you say that Chimpanzee would be the most logical Ape DNA used? CC |

Well there's the AE-WWII Soviet Chumans. I believe the guys at Darkson Designs were inspired by the History Channel series on Monsters a few years back which covered Stalin's experiments. link In the AE-WWII history, the hybrid testing was unsuccessful until the after the discovery of the Psi phenomenon sweeping the Soviet citizens (as a result of the explosion at Tunguska). Using humans altered from the Tunguska blast (or their decendents) they were able to successfully cross-breed humans and chimpanzees. Originally used as a low-skilled workforce, these hybrids were then pressed into military service as shock troops. In game terms these units move fast and ignore rough terrain. They're close combat specalists and have a demoralizing effect on enemy troops. Despite being used in small quantities and unarmed, there is a story in the back of the core rulebook that describes an SS unit getting overrun by a large number of these and several were described as waving PPSh SMGs around. |

I would have to say like my former brother-in-law. A really great and dependable through thick and thin guy who was an artillery crewman on an M109 before he transferred and became a carpenter (and helped me properly align the shingles on my house when I re-roofed it), but man, he reminded me of an ape – solid and built like one. He would have been very, very scary to encounter in close combat. -- Tim |

Hmmm, the "Chuman" artist seems to think that crossing the species will lead to the hybrid having eyes 5 to 6 times as large as either. The chuman image looks like it should be called a greypanzee and not a chuman. |

A lot would depend upon the dominance of different genes that control epigenetic traits. We will have no real way to know for sure until we actually make one. And that will probably be a long time coming. Although the "George Bush" comment may come closest to the mark. It would probably have an intellect that was closer to Rick Perry though (have you seen his grades at TAMU? He got something like a 1.9GPA). |

My guess is that an ape/human hybrid would look like Ron Pearlman or Tom Waits. Only hairier. |
