Hi guys, can anyone help I am trying too locate some pictures of french cav during the FPW, mounted and if possible showing most angles. I have been googling daft for the last two days and have as yet came across a few but they dont give enough detail or mostly black and white.

PIctures are not that common, but the details/regulations are quite well documented. Which units are you looking for?

The Lienhart and Humbert plates have 1870-era cav uniform plates under Band II link
and
the Loire 1870 link loire1870.fr has a few color plates showing French cavalry. Select Uniformes-France and scroll down to the cavalry section.

The links above are good, and Caliver do some good guides, and the Osprey books. I have just finished the French 1st Corps, and a unit of Guard Carabiniers and a unit of Chasseurs D'Afric in 28mm,

Wargames Foundy has two colour plates, one for the French (which included some cavalry) and one for the Prussians. I know they are available on the Net somewhere.

I think it is the blood and iron yahoo site, but it is one of the above I mentioned,
