My father was recently able to verify a link in our family tree that had shared relationship with Light Horse Harry. Being the wargamer that I am, I am now setting out on a new period. Who can you recommend for figures for AWI light infantry, dragoons and others such as Hessians in 28mm? I intend to use Sharp Practice as I prefer skirmish actions. |

Have you thought of skirmishing the AWI in 40mm? We are working on Hessians at the moment. Check out our Trident Designs figures. Over 600 available at the moment. miniatureservicecenter.com |

Doug – All of my terrain is 28mm or else I'd entertain your suggestion since all of your figures are very nice looking. Most of my FIW non-native is either front rank or redoubt so I'll look at their figures again. Any other suggestions? |

Perry and Foundry are both nice (other suggestions). However, Front Rank are my favorite too. BO |

Would agree with Front Rank Interesting ancestry – does this mean you are related to Bobby Lee? |

If you are doing skirmish actions, you will probably want a lot more "pose variety" than you would with bigger games. On that basis, in 28mm you would be better served with the Perry/Foundry range and possibly the OG 2nd Edition – Front Rank have head variants, but otherwise the pose is the same. Don't forget Conquest for Indians/Canadians, and Eureka for raggedy Continentals and gun crews; Eureka also plan to release some Southern militia dragoons, and Perry have some new "northern" militia in the pipeline. |

I like conquest's 500 nations line and almost all their woodlands indians. How does eureka and perry match with front rank and redoubt? I do want lots of poses. And yes Fredrick, the relationship filters down from Bobby Lee's grandmother's side with the branch being one above his granny. The thing I think is interesting is that the other side of my family can directly traced to Hessians who traded shots with the revolting colonists. |

Interesting family tree – on my Dad's side, our North American connections began with those same German mercenaries – who, when the war ended, decided "no thanks, I don't want to go back, I like the Ohio territory" – my Civil War connection is great-grandpa George, who achieved the lofty rank of private in the 4th Minnesota On my Mom's side, a bunch of horse-stealing Ukrainian cossacks As to minis, my Perrys, Front Ranks and Redoubts mix and match pretty well |

Redoubt is really not a good range of figures; the faces are particularly awful. I think they used a different sculptor and for some reason they decided not to go the "different heads" route that made their ECW and ACW ranges so popular. Eureka are designed specifically to be compatible with Perry/Foundry, but Front Rank (being a much older range) are slightly smaller than 28mm and chunkier. They make excellent "characters" and "extras" for units made up of Perry/Foundry/Eureka figures. |
