I am seriously considering starting to get into Naps and maybe in 15mm so decided to paint one up to see how it went ( in a 'looks roughly right' ) scheme/uniform just as a test.

I am having terrible trouble trying to decide what scale to play in and collect.

Anyway here he is ….

15mm is the way to go. Great looking paint job.

Looks like a 28mm paint job. I paint both 15mm and 28mm and like them both. I am trying to finish off my 15mm/18mm pile of lead (Napoleonics – AB,OG and Warmodelling) as my eyes are dim.

Very good,
What have you painted the French infantry figure as?

Well, you've chosen the best brand of 15/18mm figures, in my own opinion, and done an excellent paint job.

Excellent for 15mm. Watch out for the uniform police;-)

I made that scheme up – This is the one thing that really is putting me off the period actually

Rob,
It shouldn`t put you off the period, there`s alot of information about & help. Also you may find the research fun(well interesting).

Hi Rob:

Yes, very nice work.

As for the uniforms, they're actually not all that difficult, especially in 15mm where many of the details don't really show up (lace patterns for example).

The best bet is to just take it slow. Tackle one unit type first (line infantry or dragoons or whatever) and pick your time period. Pick up a few references and, if you like, double check your plan here before you start!

Despite the rep. of Napoleonics gamers being a contentious bunch, you can ignore the hotheads and get some good friendly advice here.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement.

The period is another thing that is so very hard to decide on. I 'think' I quite like idea of the Peninsular side of things but that leaves out some nations that I quite fancy too.

decisions, decisions :-)

Hi

I chose the 1809 period as it allow me to use French for the peninsular war as well as using them with their allies against Austria.
