Excellent job! You paint a lot more detail than I do!

I recently told Steve at Age of Glory that the problem with these is that there is no limit to the amount of detail you can paint on them. You need to set your limits!

Cavalcade is currently producing Ming opponents to complement the Perry's samurai: link

Thats very cool !! …….. my problem is 2 fold …..

1. – I do not know enough about the Samurai Armies to really build a force things like ……. Were groups of the foot ( all painted the same ? ) Samurai I would guess are always dressed very different.

PS – I looked at your blog for ideas before !!! nice work on your units

nycjadie02 Oct 2009 7:38 a.m. PST

Yes, they were all different. My method is to paint half the the unit with black armor and the other half red. I then paint the silks different colors to make the unit as a whole look a bit all-over-the-place. It streamlines the work a bit. Still, it takes me about twice as long to paint samurai than other units.

Thanks for the comments.

Best,
Steve

you right …….. they take forever to paint !! at least 2 times as long !! We did some Muslims a while back and they were a tough lot also with all the design work on saddle cloths and cloths

Scott,
Those mounted Samurai look great, as do the Napoleonic Brits. Of course I am prejudiced as I am the proud owner of them!!
We put the Samurai on display at HMGS's gameday at Age of Glory's tradestand in Baltimore last weekend and people were very impressed.
We will definitley be using Scott's The Emperors Own painting service to do our new Wars of the French Revolution range for our big demonstration game at Historicon 2010 in Baltimore.

That is very nice work! Is that plasticine that you used as a temporary base or painting support?

GeorgethePug02 Oct 2009 6:57 p.m. PST
