I think Foundry's are good, but like Black Tree design better.

Hoc Habet Hoc,very enjoyable set of rules, managing a stable
is not quite as easy as some may think.

Crusader makes a nice range.

Woops figs not rules,I have the entire foundry range and thay are a pleasure to own and paint, examples of all the
styles in male female and dwarf are represented so it's a damn fine purchase for a broadbase set of fighters.

The Foundry are great, but don't overlook the Crusaders. They have fantastic helmets, mounted gladiators, trainers and some great casualty figures.

West Wind do a terrific range – lots of types, including foreign captives, animals, mounted gladiators, chariots, casualties, & (my personal favourite) 'Gladiators being mauled by Animals'! Casting quality is not the best, though, lots of flash & mould-lines to deal with.

Foundry are excellent sculpts. But they're noticeably bigger than most other figures, and have '28mm dwarfism' in spades. It's a matter of taste… I like them.

Black Tree… good luck with that. This time next year, you might receive half of what you ordered. Seriously, check the consumer affairs board before you part with any hard-earned.

Crusader are very nice figures, with arena officials and mounted gladiators as well as the usual types.

Irregular do a decent enough range of fighters… sculpting quality is okay only, good low cost option if you want a lot for massed battles (Gregatim) or Spartacist rebellion.

Steve Barber does a modest range; 1 of each type of fighter, arena officials, and some animals. I haven't seen these 'in the flesh', but last time this topic came up, somebody said they were on the small side. Nice-looking sculpts, though.

eM-4 does two boxed sets of pre-painted figures, which come complete with a ruleset. As pre-paints go, these look pretty good, & they're well-priced for what you get.

I really like the Crusader range. They are based on historical prototypes and not someone's fantasy of what a gladiator should look like.

Gladiator War range by West Wind is sold by Old Glory. It offers a good variety of figures and animals, and with the Army Card, a very good deal.

I have painted both the Foundry and West Wind figures, and found that they blended together very well.

The Gladiators by Gladiator miniatures by way of Black hat and I are decent:

I have some from Crusader – the Murmillones and Crupellarius set. Very nice.

Ooh, I didn't know those ex-Gladiator Miniatures figures were still available… nice one, Extra Crispy.

My FIRST choice would be Foundry.
Just get the LARGE deal with all the figures in one purchase and you are done.

2nd choice would be Crusader. Figures are bigger than Foundry but very nice, not as big a selection though.

There are a couple of nice ones from Reaper.

I vote Crusader, they're the most historical accurate gladiator minis you'll find.

I don't think the Crusader figures are bigger than Foundry; they are pretty well a perfect size match. I mixed both ranges in a unit:-

I can now barely tell which are Foundry, and which Crusader, except by the helmets; the Crusader helmets are more ornate with excellent eyeguards.

Dunno about a Foundry big deal, WarWizard… you'd be very well set-up for the basic fighters, but no foreign captives, (almost) no casualties, no mounted types, no chariots, & only one of the three big deals contains any animals.
