Ok, I've got some more done for my my Mekton Campaign (AKA Series)
First a recap for newcomers:

Well, I've had Mekton Z for more than half a year and have been bouncing around in my head ideas for Series and slowly (Oh so slowly!) have been moving toward getting a group together.

So far I have two people interested, both are good friends that are interested in games in general and are almost always willing to take the time to learn to play a game. A massive blessing considering how most of my friends aren't really into wargames or RPGs. I'm hoping I can grow my group by one or two more people but two is just fine.

Anyway, being a partial wargamer at heart I've also wanted to wait till I have some terrain and miniatures to start playing (Also, I hope to get some more friends hooked from the "Oooh!" factor of nice terrain and minis). I've been working on a modular desert game board with free standing accessories for the terrain. For miniatures I've finally settled on Mechwarrior Clix because of their price and availability. I'll be able to amass a fair sized collection cheaply (in addition to my current collection) and will be able to chop, slice, and modify a lot to suit my Mecha tastes and the designs I'll need (For instance, I've already started work on a Griffon/Tank hybrid inspired by the Zaku tank).

For story I've gone through several ideas such as: Deep Space Hard Sci-fi, Space opera, Cyberpunk, and wartime. I finally settled on a Post-Post-Apocalypse era. Many years after a major disaster where everything is being rebuilt but there is still plenty of strife and competition going on. A working synopsis is below:

Name: Mobile Force Desertstriker (I had originally picked this name as a word play off of Roadstriker because a majority of the Mecha were to be that scale. I decided to keep that name because I liked the ring of it and it became the name of the player faction.

Synopsis: Set many, many years after the world fell into darkness. Mobile Force Desertstriker follows the exploits of a policing faction known as the Desertstrikers, a collection of brave men and women who travel the wasteland offering aid, recovering secrets of the past, and combating those who would do evil. Built into small, self-sufficient bands, the Deserstriker groups only come together to fight larger foes. But, even though their machines and wills are strong, raiders and pirates are not their only concern. Vast faction called the Organizations are among the groups to be found on the wasted planet. Constantly digging up ancient tech as well as producing their own, these groups have access to many dangerous machines and weapons. Things don't get pretty when the Organizations stretch out their hand to land or materials that belong to the peoples of the wastes, for that is sure to bring forth the Desertstrikers in due time…

Well, that's part of the ideas I'm working on. Lots to do still. More back story, characters, sub-plots, and big, deep, dark secrets to make.
Inspiration for this series came for several sources:
Xabungle (Currently watching, coming to absolutely love this lesser known Tomino gem (Or should I say, Bluestone ;) ))
After War: Gundam X
Turn A Gundam
Mad Max
Armored Core

(And possibly more that I can't remember)

And the new stuff, languages:
Ok, so I've been working on back story and culture for my little world and here is some of the stuff I've come up with:
Languages:

Common: The most widespread language within the known lands. It used mainly by the Corporations, City-States, Merchants, Free-Towns, Desertstrikers, More advanced or friendly Tribals (through translator members). It is spoken by all classes, though, some of the less well off may not be able to write or read.

Bygone: The language of the of the people from before the Great Fall, often call simply Bygones or Ancients. It is important for today's reclamations and tech retrieval. As well as reverse engineering. The language is not often easily accessible because one must either be taught or have access to books or some form of other teaching tool. In some governments only designated individuals are allowed to learn Bygone, with severe penalties for those who break this law.
It is most often known by Reverse-Engineers, Rogue and Legal Scholars, Some scientists, and Special members in the Desertstrikers.
Bygone comes in three main dialects: Eas, Wes, and Midd.

Tribal: More of a collection of loosely connected dialects then a single, set, language. Of those broad dialects, each tribe speaks their own, unique, version of it. Tribals speak their own tribes tongue and possibly the tongue of one or two of the neighboring tribes. Others who would speak Tribal would be Merchants, some Nomads, and Translators.

Nomadic: The language of the secretive Nomads that wander the wastes in massive City-Landships. The language is believed to have branched off from the same Post-Disaster languages as Common, though, the similarities are slim between the two.
Nomadic can really be split into two groups, normal and code. The first is used around non-nomads and casual conversations (when common isn't used.) Code is a much more incomprehensible version (for non-Nomads) used for transmission between Lanship-Cities and other conversations where Nomads don't want others listening.

So that's the main to-do on the main languages of the known world. I'll get some more info posted later.
