Valiant figure range is limited to ETO and i would like to use their figures on East front battles but, unfotunately, Valiant (and Rapid Fire guys btw) doesnīt seem to like Soviet armies and itīs unlikely that we see a Russian box soon.

I already own lots of 1/72 russians (from Warmodelling) but they doesnīt match well with Valiant Germans so i was thinking about purchasing 1/60? soviet figures, hoping that they fix better.

What range of figures could match? Iīll accept any suggestions.

Simple answer – None.

(Rapid Fire guys not liking Eastern Front? Hmmm… Their four Eastern Front supplements would suggest they have some interest…)

*sigh* I hope Valiant would release Soviet figures some day.

Iīve just visit their website (not been there for some time) and iīve seen the new supplements. I said they didnīt like East front because in the 2nd edition of Rapid Fire! they put a lot of emphasys on ETO (nearly all the pictures are from Normandy campaign) and the army list for soviets is quite limited.

Well there is two small supplements for the East just released in print format…

…and I hear there may be another in development…

I share your disappointment wih the lack of Valiant Soviets. The current range is great and they paint up well. One day, perhaps.

As you have noted, Valiant figs are on the large size for 1/72nd scale. 1/60th might work, but I'd get some samples to try out.

OTOH, why not just use normal 1/72nd scale figs for the Russians – Brittania are pretty bloated and might look OK as oponents for Valiant. It isn't as if you are going to be mixing Russians and Germans in the same unit.

You could try Raventhorpe miniatures not exactly easy to get hold of in the UK I understand. I had some years ago and they where nice but big figures. I believe they also have some conection with the rapid fire/valiant/ready to roll guys so may match well in size and style,

They don't have loads of Soviets but they do have cossacks, sailors and airborne so it's a start.

I'd love some tasty Russian Valiant packs too. When shall we defend the Motherland against the Hitlerite fascists? For the Motherland!

Are they hard to find in the UK? That's odd, since that's where they are made. I know the US stockist has had some trouble keeping stock at times, but hard to find in their country of origin? What's up?

They have no web presecence or as far as I know a show stockist either. Basically you have to send off to the guy who makes them for the list and then send a cheque with a written order. All very 1985 really. Not impossiable to get hold of, just not that easy in the internet age with online shopping baskets.

Try Skytrex as well, I recently got some of their scouts on ebay and they are a head taller then even the Britannia scouts

In fact iīve based all my warmodeling figures three in a base to use them for Crossfire.

Lotīs of unused italeri plastic russians (too thin to match the warmodelling ones).

and remember to harass valiant about the need for russians in their range! If they did do a russian set I think people would be happier to switch to their product as it would then have coverage of the major armies of late war ww2 europe – some allied paras would be nice too though :-)
