PSR have reviewed the Zvezda set and are quite critical, so worth a peek.

I have this set, and I find the detail really good, and am prepared to spend the time putting them together, and will replace the flag anyway, so for me a great set.

YMMV

I have just finished painting a number of companies to add to my Revell Prussian regiments. The PSR comments are valid. They are large, well proportioned, detailed figures and would easily fit in with 25mm figures. They are not 1/72 figures by any means. The downside is that I would have prefered more marching poses, less kneeling firing figures and I agree with PSR, less assembly. However after I had snipped the pegs off and filled the gaps in, that wasn't that much on an issue. The standard bearer was swiftly converted into another marching nco.

These few criticisms really shouldn't put anyone off buying this great set and I really hope this is the first of many.

They haven't arrived at my local shop yet, but I definitely intend to pick up a few boxes. PSR's warnings are much appreciated, especially on the kneeling poses and the less-than-perfect fit. Shame about the flag, too – however the bearer pose could be useful for IRs 6 and III/15. What did you use as Kurzgewehr for the NCO conversion?

In any case, the Revell alternative is just too ugly, so here's hoping that these are only the first set in a full range. Cuirassiers anyone? Fusiliers?

Well, I chop flags off to replace with paper ones anyway, so bit of a non issue for me anyway.

I will use the kneeling pose as I don't mind firing figures, but could have done with a few more marching/standing.

I guess starting with Minifigs back in the 70's made me immune to the "no firing line" toy soldiers. I know the arguments – "it looks silly having troops in reserve firing", but I try not to get too hung up over toys – I have a real life as well.

But the detail on these figures is really good – far better than the GNW range which I am using as well, and they are very nice, so for my money these are just better.
