We are getting ready for the 4th Annual BIG BATTALION SYW GAME on 10 October 1759/2009. For a portion of the back story see the photo story with brief captions here, if you please.

Very nice Bill. I finished Savory recently and Fulda Gap was constantly used as a throughfare for both the French and Hannoverian armies.

Eagerly await your next installment.
cheers,
Robert

This is in Canada somewhere, I assume, given your choice of boards?

Ditto: the last board that you cross post to always shows up as the location of the thread. So Bill probably posted to 18th Century Discussion and then added the country boards. By being last, Canada becomes the first. Get it?

Well the Canadians were back up for both Fulda (V Corps) and the two northern most Avenues of Approch in VII Corps sector in the 1980s.

Bill,
Where did you get the wall paper background?

For James Mattes,
Hi Jim,
---
The sky background was made up of poster boards purchased from an artist store. These stores sell all kinds of things if one is an artist or art student; sculptures, painting, paper gizmos, pottery, sketching and so forth. The one I go to has sturdy poster board in many colors of the rainbow.
---
I chose a selection of mid blues tending to dark grayish blues. These were taken outside, placed side-by-side on my lawn followed by spray painting cloud patterns on them. It was important to lay the boards side-by-side so cloud transitions from board to board would make sense.
---
You can transition the board colors side-to-side from mid to darker blues and dark grey blues so the underlying color of each one gives an alreading existing background color. The boards come this way. Spray on top of this.
---
The darker boards were a lot of fun. These were spray painted with combinations of white and black for storm clouds.
---
If you scroll through more of the Germania blog photos, you will see the storm coming in.
---
The boards were affixed to the wall with 3M adhesive stuff. This comes in a big roll. Peel off the backing, stick to the boards and finally the boards to the wall.
---
Respectfully,
Bill

Get it?

Sorry, no, my question was what's it got to do with Canadian wargaming? grin

Where did you get the wall paper background?

It's beautifully done.

Well the Canadians were back up for both Fulda

I guess I can say now (it was secret back then) that due to the German desire for "forward defence" we were the only reserve – brigade size formation with a battalion of 105mm Leopards backed up by M113s, that always made me really, really nervous given an old T-62 115mm could slice through a Leopard at 10km (according to our tech guys) if it had the optics for it and the impotence of the 105mm against modern Soviet armour… frown

We have had people from Canada attending our annual game in years past. We have friends in France and Germany and the UK and Canada who are interested in our game. Hence the cross posting to those threads. I didn't post the topic, I am only speculating. Sheesh – do we have to justify everything?

Looks like fun. Thanks also for the tutorial on the sky boards. I think those look great as perimeter background.
