A couple of friends and I have been playing Armati II Intro for many years. We all have young kids now and we are looking for something that takes an hour or so but still has a bit of the 'feel' of Armati. By feel, restrictive movement, not too many modifiers for dice rolls, melee will always result in damage and don't mind multiple hits a unit. Anyway, the choices are not really that many. We are not interested in going back to DBA/DBM100 that we payed in the 90's and Impetus etc is an option but I've been searching and reading for many months different rulesets and have payed a few games of Warrior Kings. It fits the bill perfectly when playing with about 2/3 recommended forces. I'm aware of the yahoo group and am likely to post some questions there. But I am wondering what other people think of the ruleset – can it be quick does it hang together well, it is good for the period it covers. Any pointers to reviews would be appreciated too. |

I played several games a while ago. Can't remember exactly why I stopped playing it: many of the games were quite interesting. It did give a relatively interesting game for 'shieldwall' armies of Vikings, Saxons and Normans. |

I like Warrior Kings, and the fantasy version, but I don't play it "straight up". |

I use Warrior Heroes, the current version of which is basically WK plus fantasy rules. A new version of Warrior Heroes will be forthcoming from Two Hour Wargames in the next few months. |

Thats good to hear. I didn't like the way it was combined with the skirmish game. |

I'm with altfritz, I would gladly purchase a new version of Warrior Heroes (not the Mayhem strand) but only play ancients with them
