This yahoo group:

link

contains my rules for STAR BLADES. This is an OGL game designed based on the original D&D system. It is a science fiction (really science fantasy) roleplaying game.

What characterizes STAR BLADES are the Dune style combat and politics.

Combat is largely no-guns, as the Holtzman Shield renders both projectile and energy weapons useless. Thus, starship combat consists of great fleets meeting in space for boarding actions, and planets are won and lost by sword-armed warriors.

Also, political infighting plays just as big a part in STAR BLADES as does adventuring, and, indeed, becomes an adventure in itself. I think it will be great fun, and I look forward to critcisms, both positive and not.

WARNING: This link leads to a yahoo group. If you are one of those who gets apoplectic about joining yahoo groups, then feel free not to join, but feel free not to bitch about it as well. The rulebook, while short (118 pages) is still too long to put on a free website, and I am NOT paying for a website just to give away free rules.

However, if anyone who has a free rules website would like to put STAR BLADES there, I would be pleased to offer it.

Looks like you put a lot of effort in the rules. Good job however there are some editing mistakes you might want to go over it again example:

"Shields give off a faint glow, generally killed to a specific color
of the spectrum, making it possible to identify friend and foe on the battlefield" I believe you meant to say keyed.

I was only skimming and I saw other examples of misused words which a good proof reading would identify and correct.

Nice job over all!

Good job Inquisitor!

I've taken the liberty of uploading a 2MB PDF version of your rules to the Yahoo group for those who don't like or have Word. Hope that's okay with you…

Yep. It iz ridulled wth tipos. However, I have printed a copy and am going to play it with my gaming group. As we go through it, I will correct mistakes, both in the typing and as certain systems need to be overhauled, and probably publish version 1.1 in a month or so.

But, hey, what's original D&D without lousy spelling and layout? wink Glad you liked it.

Thanks! However, the artwork is universally ripped off from free sites on the web. I can't take credit for any of it.

Ah, so this is the new project that you've been threatening to spring on us. Seems pretty cool. However, I'll be playing you're game on Monday, Thaken, as well you are aware. And I WILL be critiquing it here…

Be warned…
