OMG! That is one of the funniest stories I've read in years! "In August alone we discovered 44 mad scientist laboratories, three highly classified military compounds, and seven reanimated and very confused cavemen. That's more than twice the number we had found in the previous three decades combined." "According to a Natural Resources Defense Council survey, 78 percent of sinister one-eyed industrialists based in the Arctic have been forced to relocate their powerful underworld shadow governments, with many now secretly orchestrating world affairs from dormant volcanoes on remote islands." And the conclusion is side-splittingly funny to all fans of Kaiju: "For the time being, most researchers have shifted their attention away from the ice caps and toward finding a way to contain the giant reptile monster Bizarricus, who was trapped in an ice floe by Japanese scientists in the 1950s and has now returned to teach the world a lesson about the folly of man" |

LOL! That dang National Geographic must be covering up this crisis with false information!! "Arctic Ice to Last Decades Longer Than Thought? Ker Than for National Geographic News September 21, 2009 This year's cooler-than-expected summer means the Arctic probably won't experience ice-free summers until 2030 or 2040, scientists say." link

There's certainly a game in this somewhere
with teams of mad scientists/evil geniuses/secret military enclaves competing for resources and fighting off (or taming and using) giant kaiju. |

That is almost as good as the Great Lakes Whale Watching cruises! And, on a plus side, good move for all of those who built their secret lairs down in the Antarctic! And the Nazis were smart and built their secret base on the moon! |

More crap from someone who's never seen a snowflake in his life. Obviously this was missed in the article he quotes: Meier cautions the new findings do not mean the Arctic is in recovery, or that global warming is slowing down."I look at it as a one-year reprieve," he said. "I don't expect that to continue." The Northwest passage is sailable now. Go tell Franklin and the crew of the Terror (watch his google-fu bring back something unintelligible). Denmark and Caanda are fighting over sea boundaries that were once ice because of the oil possibilities. Russia is continually encroaching on what has always been the Canadian north and Canada is belatedly trying to up its pathetic military presence in the north to legitimize our claims that even 10 years ago were not worth fussing over because of the ice coverage. Weather patterns and currents are changing and unexpectedly dragging our fishing vessels and members of our ing families under. Ice flows and bergs are increasing in numbers and size making our way of life a hell of a lot more hazardous as each year goes by. Building codes and northern folks' way of life is changing. Such insinuation that it's all some imaginary conspiracy is so ing disrespectful to those of us having to adjust to the reality of a thawing arctic. You'd be just as outraged if I were to smirkingly dismiss casualties suffered in recent wars as over-exaggerated and that they did not really occur at all and were just being reported for political reasons. -- Tim |
